Uncover the answers through our Place-based Impact site, where corporate philanthropies can learn to utilize community-centric strategies to invest resources into a place and the community there. Learn how to adopt a place-based mindset, see how your company’s approach measures up, and hear from leaders in Huntington, Tulsa, Los Angeles, and Baltimore on how place-based investment works and has impacted their lives. "Change must be owned and led by the people who live in a community for it to be successful and sustained. From my perspective, place-based strategies force us to rebuild our democratic muscle.” - Tony Pipa Hear more from two place-based experts — Thomasina (Tomi) Hiers, Vice President of the Center for Civic Sites and Community Change at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and Tony Pipa, Senior Fellow, Global Economy and Development, Center for Sustainable Development at the Brookings Institution — to understand the significance of place-based strategies and why buy-in across the public and private sectors is essential to their success. https://lnkd.in/e6CP2AtH

What does place-based investment look like in practice? We have learned that it can take many forms and range in scale. Centering the needs and assets of each unique community is at the heart of this work. In Fall 2023, we had the unique opportunity to travel to George Kaiser Family Foundation's hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma and learn about their holistic, large-scale, and long-term investment. https://lnkd.in/eEGcdg_z

Thank you to Udarie Fernando for this glowing review of our Green Seat Guide. You make us blush! Check out the guide at: https://lnkd.in/eDB-D4cf
Recommended summer reading for #ESG leaders and practitioners: NationSwell’s “The Green Seat Guide: Strategies for Effective Sustainability Leadership” (https://lnkd.in/eAFrzjNj) chapter 1 of which dropped last month. Includes invaluable lessons learnt from Chief Sustainability Officers, including two of my favorites Ann Tracy and Jessica Hyman. Easy to reach saturation point with the abundance of #climate resources available. But this guide got my attention. And for good reason: it cuts through the noise + doubles down on #sustainability essentials. As Greg McKeown puts it “essentialism”. Or as my former leader turned mentor, Ann Marie Rapacciuolo, often coached me: get the fundamentals right. Interweaving a sustainability strategy throughout a business’ operations and culture is the complex, unglamorous, necessary work we must prioritize.
