We are proud participants in the Pediatric Heart Network COMPASS trial, which is randomizing infants with ductal dependent pulmonary blood flow to either have a surgical aorto-pulmonary shunt or a ductal stent. Led by Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell and Dr. Konstantin Averin of Cohen Children's Medical Center, this is the first clinical trial in pediatric cardiology/pediatric cardiac surgery to directly compare a catheterization procedure to a surgical procedure. 🎉 We’re proud to have been the first on Long Island to perform a transcatheter tricuspid valve repair procedure using the newly available TriClip device! The minimally invasive surgery was done by Dr. Bruce Rutkin at the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital. This marks a significant advancement in the treatment of patients with tricuspid valve regurgitation considered at elevated risk for conventional cardiac surgery.
