Public art is a signature part of The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey's aviation redevelopment efforts, from LaGuardia Airport to Newark Liberty's new Terminal A. JFK is next. The new Terminal 6 (scheduled to open in 2026) will be home to inspiring installations by 18 contemporary artists - the largest number of works at any New York airport by major figures from the United States like Nina Chanel Abney, Teresita Fernandez, Charles Gaines, and Barbara Kruger. The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and JFK Millennium Partners worked with the Public Art Fund to curate permanent art installations for the $4.2 billion new Terminal 6 at JFK Airport. Works from 18 different artists, including 10 from New York City, will feature a selection of sculptures, suspended installations, wall works, and glass mosaic floor medallions that will bring a distinctly New York sense of place to the new terminal when it opens to passengers in 2026. The project represents the Port Authority's commitment to featuring inspirational public art, as done at the award-winning LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty’s Terminal A, into #AWholeNewJFK.
