Making sure that rainwater is effectively shed and directed away from the house is a top priority in our safe and healthy home improvement program. We installed new gutters and new shingles on Mrs. B's roof to prevent water from coming into her home which also prevents mold from growing in the home.

When I try to make sense of the cruel things humans do to one another, my analysis often leads to a common thread: poverty. Hurt people hurt people. Poverty affects our views on crime, leadership, civil actions, racism, and most everything we perceive daily. In Maslow's hierarchy of needs, physiological needs (food, shelter, air, etc.) form the base of the triangle, as the basic requirements must be met for us to live. Affordable housing, as part of the poverty equation, is a physiological need that must be given attention. Listen to Climbing The Charts to hear our interview with three elite thinkers in the affordable housing space: Matthew Wiltshire, Andrea Prince and Joshua Haston. They discuss the wide gap between Nashville's affordable housing needs and the current reality. Though it cannot be solved quickly, we can all contribute in small or large ways to address the problem. I believe we all have a duty to care for and connect with our community if we want a better, safer place to live. Finding and implementing the best available solutions is crucial. You can make a difference today by reaching out to your local Metro Council Member to express your support for the new IDB legislation enabled by the State, discussed at length in the episode. Affordable housing and transit go hand-in-hand. Please tell your Metro Council Member that you support the transit referendum and vote YES at the polls in November. If you need clarification on the need for better bus systems, shelters, and traffic light upgrades, use Nashville's public transportation and imagine it as your only method for getting groceries, commuting to work, and taking children to daycare. While we’ve been making do with what we have, there is a significant need to enhance these systems. Many thanks to Senator Charlane Oliver, MPA, Caleb Hemmer and Matthew Wiltshire for working to make this new legislation a reality for many TN cities to consider. J. We had a wonderful experience with the Ally racing team and appreciate them giving back to the Nashville community. Good luck at the Ally 400 in Nashville this weekend!
The No. 48 Ally Racing Team, driver Alex Bowman and Ally ambassador and former pro football player, Bernard Pollard, took a pit stop from the track to give back to the community ahead of the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. Alongside Rebuilding Together Nashville, the team participated in a community enrichment day to enhance and revitalize a Nashville resident's home and a nearby neighborhood gathering place. Well done, everyone! #DoItRight
