Nearly a year ago, the devastating Lahaina fires in Maui left an indelible mark on the community. The Salvation Army lost their entire Lahaina Lighthouse Corps complex to the disaster. Despite this setback, The Salvation Army continues to be involved in the community's healing process by providing food, basic social service needs, and emotional and spiritual care to those affected. Envoy Kevin Nagasaki, a long-time Salvation Army leader in Lahaina, recounts the events of the fire and his efforts to help people evacuate, including those experiencing homelessness. "They always ask, ‘How are you doing?’ I try not to ask that question anymore, because, I mean, I already know how they're doing. I’d rather open up with another question, and it helps them to open up and talk about what's going on, how are they feeling…And a lot of people have learned that they're not alone.” Read more about how The Salvation Army navigates community healing after the fires here: https://lnkd.in/gtyNqAhD #MauiFires #LoveBeyondDisaster #SalvationArmy"

We would like to thank Bashas' who year after year generously donate 10% of their Donut Sales on #NationalDonutDay to The Salvation Army Southwest Division. The donuts have been eaten and the totals are in. This year The Salvation Army will receive a donation for $3,000 from Bashas’! The First National Donut Day took place in 1938 and the donut now serves as a symbol of the comfort that The Salvation Army provides to those in need through its many social services programs. The Salvation Army still serves donuts, in addition to warm meals and hydration, to those in need during times of disaster. We would like to thank Bashas'’ for their continued Partnership and support helping our neighbors in need. #DoingTheMostGood #LoveBeyondHardship #BashasDonutFlavorCrazeContest2024

Thanks to our long-time supporters, Bashas' Supermarkets, for letting Lt. Colonel Ivan Wild and the gang judge the creative and tasty entries in its 9th Annual Donut Flavor Craze contest! As is tradition, Bashas' is also generously donating 10 percent of its donut sales at its Arizona bakeries on National Donut Day (Friday, June 7) to The Salvation Army. So think of Bashas' when you make your donut run on National Donut Day, and you'll not only get to taste the contest winners, but help our neighbors in need. Win, win! #bashasdonutflavorcraze2024 #DoingTheMostGood #SalArmyLoveBeyond #nationaldonutday

The Salvation Army Southwest Division 2023 Impact & Annual Report In the heart of the Southwest, spanning Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Nevada, a beacon of hope shines. In 2023 alone, this beacon touched the lives of over 517,000 individuals. The Salvation Army is more than just a helping hand. It’s a comprehensive support system providing sustenance for the hungry, a safe haven for the homeless, and a source of relief in times of disaster. From offering food to the famished, shelter and clothing to those without a home, to stepping in with rent and utility assistance when times get tough, The Salvation Army is there. When extreme weather strikes, it provides respite and relief, ensuring no one is left to face the elements alone. But the support doesn’t stop there. The Salvation Army is committed to uplifting communities. It fosters senior activity and outreach, provides adult rehabilitation services, and creates opportunities for underprivileged children. During the holiday season, it steps up to bring joy and assistance to those who need it most. Above all, The Salvation Army offers something intangible yet invaluable - emotional and spiritual support. It’s not just about meeting physical needs, but also about nourishing the soul. In essence, The Salvation Army is more than an organization. It’s a movement, a mission, a promise - to do the most good, for the most people, in the most need. https://lnkd.in/gW-8fQth

“To be able to provide something where it’s fun and they’re learning… It’s just really the chance for them to be able to be a kid and have some sort of normalcy,” Recreational Therapy Coordinator Brittany Scott-Membrila, Phoenix Family Services Emergency Shelter. How grateful we are to have the guitars! Generously donated by country artist Steven Cade, who gave the instruments during his Giving Guitars tour. https://lnkd.in/gcHwD7De #lovebeyond #music
