Did you know? For more than 40 years the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) provided clean, carbon-free power for Southern California. At its peak, SONGS generated enough electricity for 1.5 million homes. In 2013, the station was retired and a safe dismantling process began. Watch as Southern California Edison (SCE) President and CEO, Steven Powell, talks with experts about decommissioning, safe storage of spent nuclear fuel and what lies ahead. Today we celebrate #Juneteenth, a historic day marking the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. At SCE, we value freedom, humanity and the strength of all our communities. We continue to work on fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. One way we ensure we’re working toward that goal every day is with our business resource group Networkers. This group provides a resource to contribute to recruitment, retention, and talent development while driving change within SCE. Hear from Networkers President Iman Ar-Rahim and Vice President Tara Becnel as they reflect on how the group has enriched their careers and what Juneteenth signifies.

This weekend, we partnered with the Catalina Island Conservancy to help protect the unique environment of Catalina Island. Volunteers, including Edison International employees from the island and those came in for the day, worked to remove invasive French broom and grasses that threaten native plant growth. Thanks to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to this cause. Your hard work will help the island remain a vibrant and thriving ecosystem for future generations. #Volunteer #EnvironmentalStewardship #CatalinaIsland #TeamEdison
