About us

Founded in 1824 in honor of Benjamin Franklin, The Franklin Institute is a museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and one of the oldest and premier centers of science education and development in the United States. It also houses the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial. In the spirit of inquiry and discovery embodied in its namesake, its mission is to inspire a passion for learning about science and technology through hands-on exhibits that include Your Brain, Franklin Air Show, SportsZone, Sir Isaac's Loft, Amazing Machine, and Wondrous Space. The Franklin Institute is also home to the Fels Planetarium and the Holt & Miller Observatory.
