About us
Typesense, Inc. is a profitable, revenue-backed company with a globally distributed team that's passionate about making great search technology accessible to everyone. We serve 5 Billion+ Searches per month, just on Typesense Cloud, with several billions more in self-hosted clusters. Typesense is a modern, privacy-friendly, open source search engine meticulously engineered for performance & ease-of-use. It uses cutting-edge search algorithms that take advantage of the latest advances in Hardware Capabilities & Machine Learning. We believe that search technology choices widely available to developers today, either have a steep learning curve and a heavy operational burden, or are proprietary and expensive. We are on a mission to democratize search. We want to reduce the time-to-market for developers to build a blazing-fast search experience that provides relevant results out-of-the-box, all without breaking the bank and without operational overhead. We are a lean team trying to do big things and we believe that open sourcing our work helps combine forces with our community and force-multiply our collective efforts. I am pleased to announce that I have published my Typesense module for Silverstripe, which allows you to connect your website to a Typesense installation for a near-instant search-as-you-type experience! * Demos: https://sawyer.nz/demos * Repository: https://lnkd.in/gDf_6RW4 * Docs: https://lnkd.in/gWXcs_9s * Video: https://lnkd.in/gbi-iUEH It's been a long time coming, cleaning up all of the code and getting my tests, documentation, and screenshots in order. It's still a bit rough around the edges, but hopefully good enough for an initial release that I can continually build on over time. It is open-source under LGPL3 with attribution required, and contributions are always welcome! Please raise any questions on the Issues tracker so I can keep track of feedback. Thanks! Thanks to Rosemary Hawkes for her support and Simon Erkelens for the review!

🔎 Syncing data into a search index can be useful specifically for e-commerce or content-heavy applications. 🚀 We’ve built an example that shows how to sync data from your primary database into Typesense via a serverless cron job and using Prisma Pulse for guaranteed event delivery — check it out below! https://lnkd.in/eS8fm5B6

I'm blown away by how fast Typesense is (open-source alternative to Algolia) 🤯 We just built a hyper-fast search feature for https://oss.gallery with Typesense that lets you search through 500+ projects that have been added so far. h/t to Jason Bosco and the team for helping out! Naturally, Typesense also has an OSS Gallery page → https://lnkd.in/gH5r8-CY Check out the code to see how we implemented this search feature: https://lnkd.in/gxV2TMup 👇

We shipped a new MAJOR version of Typesense this week. We've finally switched from our 0.x.y versioning scheme to an X.Y versioning scheme to better communicate Typesense's progress over the years. So we went from v0.25 ==> v26 🎉 Here are some key features I'm most excited about in this release: ⭐️ Conversational Search Think ChatGPT-style Q&A, but with data you've indexed in Typesense. We integrate both with OpenAI and Cloudflare hosted LLMs, and offer built-in RAG. ⭐️ Image Search Search for objects inside images based on keywords ⭐️ Voice Search Send Typesense audio clips, to use as the search query. Typesense will automatically transcribe the clip and do a search. ⭐️ JOINs SQL-like joining of data across indices ⭐️ Search Personalization Use a user's past queries to re-rank search results better suited for them specifically ⭐️ Curation by tags Trigger merchandizing rules or banners based on marketing campaigns using tags. A BIG thank you to everyone who contributed ideas, code and feedback that helped shape this release 🙏
