During the COVID-19 pandemic, two nurses at UF Health Shands Hospital pioneered methods to prevent the deterioration of sites where large tubes connected to patients’ major arteries, ultimately saving lives. Their groundbreaking work was the subject of research led by the University of Florida College of Nursing that has garnered international attention, and they will soon present their findings in Singapore.

Kenneth M. Heilman, a founder of the field of behavioral neurology who has died at 86, is remembered for impacting generations of young neurologists and serving the University of Florida College of Medicine for over 50 years. “Behavioral neurology fellows today all train on Dr. Heilman’s textbook.
