About us

At UofL Hospital and Brown Cancer Center, patients and their families are the focus of who we are and what we do. Our health care heroes—our employees—serve a vital role in helping make our mission successful. What distinguishes us from any other medical center in the city, state, region, country and the world is our affiliation with the University of Louisville, the University of Louisville Health Science Center and University of Louisville Physicians. We are recognized globally for the translational research and clinical trials, and the teaching and training of world class physicians and nurses. Our employees are talented and passionate about the work they do. They are proud to be a part of an organization dedicated to helping more than 300,000 patients and families each year. Each and every employee contributes important skills and ideas toward our common goal--providing patients with exceptional care by integrating evidence-based knowledge, integrity, and compassion.

"You really define who you are in those dark moments ... Who are you in those moments? That has nothing to do with what you have or what you possess and everything to do with what's in your heart." Live Beyond: A Celebration of Trauma Survivors shared survivors' stories of triumph through a sentimental art exhibit at the Speed Art Museum. Photographer Scotty Perry, writer Conner Mackowiak and art therapist Amy Mattingly spent time with survivors—whose injuries ranged from gunshot wounds to burns to car accidents—to capture their stories. 🔗 ULHealth.co/3WKT1Pw

UofL Health celebrated #TraumaSurvivorsDay by hosting a sentimental art exhibit that shared and celebrated survivors' stories of triumph. Live Beyond: A Celebration of Trauma Survivors, centered around kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending cracks with lacquered gold. The process is intended to treat breakage and repair as part of an object's history instead of something to disguise. Photographer Scotty Perry, writer Conner Mackowiak and art therapist Amy Mattingly spent time with survivors—whose injuries ranged from gunshot wounds to burns to car accidents—to capture their stories, which were displayed at the Speed Art Museum. 🔗 ULHealth.co/3WKT1Pw
