Shoutout to William Jackson and his team for allowing me to feel safe to take a professional headshot in a sweatshirt. I have never done this and I know this sounds minor but it was liberating and had me feeling a bit like a rebel (with a cause!) Corporate spaces have had me conditioned to feel like when taking a professional headshot you must "dress professionally" (whatever that means). But being in a space that allows you to be free, authentic and to not let an outfit determine your intelligence or contributions to society, felt like church for a moment "come as you are". Thank you Village of Wisdom! #DreamSHIPDrip #Focus on all the good things!

Empowering Families to Support School Accountability is the topic of our next Learning and Workshop. We encourage you to join us, The Center for Youth and Community Leadership in Education (CYCLE) and Village of Wisdom for another important conversation. Tracie Potochnik, Associate Director for Research & Learning at CYCLE will be joined by Chief of Equity & Empowerment Officer for Central Falls School District Patricia Martinez to discuss how they developed and implemented their Schools & Communities Organizing for Racial Equity (SCORE) tool. Dr. Dawn X Henderson, Research Guru at Village of Wisdom will share learnings from community-driven and participatory approaches to research that places power back into the hands of members of our community to drive change across school learning environments. Dr. Henderson will be joined by parent leader and researcher, Courtney McLaughlin. https://lnkd.in/eA5vE9ew #accountability #education #educationsupport
