Set up URL parameters for page load conversions in Campaign Manager

LinkedIn Conversion Tracking provides you with additional reporting to better understand the actions people take after viewing or clicking on your ad. Page load (sitewide) conversions are counted when LinkedIn members visit pages on your website.  

Important to know

You must install the LinkedIn Insight Tag on every page of your website for page load conversions to function.

You’ll need to define which page conversions are counted from by setting URL parameters. When setting up URL parameters, you can exclude http:// and http://. Only include www if it appears in your URL as a site visitor would see it.

To set up page load conversion URL parameters: 

  1. Complete Step 1: Define the rules of your conversion when you're setting up your Insight Tag conversion in Campaign Manager

  2. On the Sources page of your set up, select Page load

  3. Below Match a URL that… click the dropdown menu. Choose from the URL parameter options: 

    • Starts with - Use when you have dynamic parameters at the end of your URL. Conversions will be counted when members visit any page on your site starting with the URL entered. 
    • Equals - Use to count conversions when members visit this exact URL on your site. 
    • Contains - Use to count conversions from pages on your site that contain keywords or phrases in the URL. When using contains, you don’t need to add the complete URL. 
  4. In the text bar below the dropdown menu, type in the URL, word, or string required for the parameter you chose. 

    • If you chose Starts with, add the beginning of the URL. For example, enter fixdex.com if you want to track conversions for all pages that start with fixdex.com.  
    • If you chose Equals, enter the exact URL of the page you want to track. For example, enter fixdex.com/thankyou if you want to track people who make it to your thank you page. 
    • If you chose Contains, enter the word or string of words that the URL must contain to track. For example, if you have multiple thank you pages, you can enter “thank-you” to track all thank you pages.
  5. If you chose Starts with or Contains, you can also click + And also to add additional words or strings that the URL must also contain. For example, match a URL that starts with example.com and contains thank-you. This can help narrow which pages conversions are counted from. 

  6. Click + Add a new OR rule if there are multiple URLs which can count conversions. This will broaden your results.  

If you need separate reporting for visits to multiple URLs, you’ll need to create multiple conversions. You’ll be able to view reporting for each conversion created.
