Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at 2100 Charlie Hall Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29414.

This position is for a Mental Health Therapist to serve adults patients receiving services at the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC). This position serves the Region 2 Intensive Community Treatment (ICT). Our clinicians provide advanced, comprehensive mental health assessments and clinical interventions to promote individualized patient recovery. Sessions include individual, family, and group therapy using a full array of Evidence-Based Practices tailored to the individual's needs and preferences. Outcome measures are also completed at regular intervals to ensure an accurate level of care. We seek compassionate individuals who are driven to provide outstanding care to those we serve.

Our organization also provides outpatient psychiatric and nursing services, so clinicians will act as part of a multidisciplinary team. Sessions are provided in the clinic and community settings as well as via telehealth when appropriate. While much of our operation is office-based, there may be an opportunity to integrate telecommuting as well for portions of the workweek.

Therapists are responsible for documenting services in a timely manner using an Electronic Medical Record system. All necessary technology will be provided.

Clinical staff receive thorough training at orientation as well as opportunities for ongoing training and support, including CEUs whenever possible. Regular individual and team supervision is also provided.

Expectation of meeting patients where they are (physically; at home, or in the community) to include safety in the field training.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Agency (DMH) Minimum Requirements: A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling, or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH and 1 year of post-graduate experience.
