The CNC Lathe Machinist/Operator II reports to the Production Manager. Sets up and operates convention, special purpose CNC machines to manufacture metallic and non-metallic parts. Familiar with G and M code knowledge.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
Reads and interprets blueprints
Properly and safely loads and unloads raw materials
Proficient in use of measuring instruments
Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
Power on and operate CNC Lathe with minimal assistance and demonstrate self-initiative
Must be familiar with MAZAK controls
Must demonstrate understanding of cutting tools, Geometry usage, application, and function
Properly uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling
Understands and has the ability to perform basic tool wear offsets
Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment
Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department
Basic understanding and ability to follow manufacturing processes and procedures
Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures
Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions
Communicates thoughts, ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
Attends scheduled meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful input
Flexibility with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant
Communicates honestly, professionally, and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
2-3 years preferred experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
High school diploma or GED required

Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours
Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend
Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work
Regularly lift, push or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned
Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed
