Job Description

The Manager, Cost Accounting Distributive Assembly (DA) is a key position reporting to the Director, Cost Accounting in the A-Box Operations Business Management team. The Manager, Cost Accounting DA will support the financial management and control of the four Distributive Assembly facilities. This position will be responsible for leading the DA operations finance team that supports the four DA locations, work to improve the business, and be sought after as a key change leader in A Box. In addition, this position will be responsible for sourcing logistics and other areas of the finance team.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Ensures appropriate controls are in place and effective at the DA locations.
  • Serves as central finance point of contact for DA operations leadership by ensuring accurate and timely reporting, developing performance metrics to meet changing business needs, and being the financial advisor for the business.
  • Owns reporting and forecasting of the DA plant profit and loss.
  • Analyzes actual results vs. forecast budget and prior year.
  • Develops tools to provide better operational analysis.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement and standardization.
  • Works with operations team to recommend and prepares capital expenditure proposals.
  • Leads divisional budget and annual physical inventory processes.
  • Develops improved material costing processes including intercompany transfers across the four DA locations and other MasterBrand facilities.
  • Assists with project costing for the DA network.
  • Leads financial analyses of supply chain optimization studies across the DA network.
  • Provides direct management of analyst team. Ensures timely and accurate completion of tasks, reviews reporting for consistency and accuracy, reviews and approves account reconciliations and journal entries, ensures proper process documentation is in place and individuals are cross trained on multiple positions, and personnel development including coaching and annual performance review process.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation and participates in Kaizen and Lean events where appropriate.
  • Hires, trains, and retains skilled staff through career development and mentoring.
  • Ensures financial integrity by following established procedures and company internal controls that are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), MasterBrand policies, Code of Conduct, and other applicable guidelines.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of all MasterBrand strategic business units. Leverages ideas from other reviews and co-workers to provide value-added recommendations and best practices to others.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by responsively collaborating with the Finance management and staff, sharing information and ideas, proactively seeking, and accepting constructive feedback.
  • Consistently demonstrates the MasterBrand Way, positioning the company for growth and helping identify opportunities to reduce waste, complexity, and improve our work environment.
  • Participates in company efforts related to ethics and compliance activities.
  • Performs other duties and participates in special projects as assigned.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes typing, clicking, and writing. Frequently positions self to maintain information in drawers and shelving. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Ability to read documents, emails, and computer screens, as well as see details on printed materials and presentations. Consistently works in an indoor setting. While traveling, the individual in this position needs to occasionally move about on the plant floor when going on plant tours and engage face to face with process and control owners. Occasionally moves items weighing up to fifteen pounds across plant floor for various needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a remote position with the ideal candidate capable of working efficiently and independently from their home office to fulfill assigned tasks and meet deadlines. As a remote employee the candidate will need internet connectivity capable of supporting virtual communication tools that allow for collaboration with team members, attendance of meetings, and participation in company activities. The ideal candidate will be required to set up and maintain a suitable home office environment conducive to productivity. This includes having a dedicated workspace with a comfortable chair, desk, and adequate lighting. The candidate is expected to travel 10% to 15% of their time to go on plant tours, attend conferences, and meet with direct reports and operations partners. This travel will require overnight stays and may be multiple days in duration.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (or Chartered Accountant equivalent), Certified Management Accountant, and/or Master of Business Administration is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of overall financial experience with demonstrated history of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understand of and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and/or International financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Sarbanes Oxley, cost accounting and accounting acumen.
  • Progressive financial experience leading diverse teams at multiple locations within a manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an efficient and engaged finance team, align priorities, organize resources, drive results by overcoming obstacles, holding the team accountable, and manage multiple priorities and team members in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Positive, inclusive, and continuous improvement-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent analytical, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills required. Ability to take complex subject matter and package in a story-board format that is clear and simple.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate presentations at the executive level.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Intermediate or advanced Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and/or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems such as Oracle and OS/Mainframe.
  • Ability to travel 10% to 15% annually (domestic).
