This job description details responsibilities for the Cost Controller/Cost Engineer/Project Accountant, reporting to the Project Controls Manager.
Primary purpose of role
It is the responsibility of the Cost Controller to assist the Project Controls Manager with all duties related to controlling, monitoring and reporting on project cost.
This role is on-site, based in Sumter SC.
Required Skills
High proficiency in Microsoft applications such as excel, word
2 years or more experience in project controls, particularly construction projects
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in project site office environment
Excellent report preparation skills for management presentations
Highly Beneficial Skills
SAP purchase order creation and generating reports from SAP
Accounting/ financial experience
Major duties
Lead the contractors project payment application reviews, on lump sum and reimbursable contracts.
Update and maintain project invoice register consistently.
Control and review incoming invoices from suppliers and service providers.
Assist in planning and forecasting costs / remaining costs monthly utilizing SAP, Registers, Project Financial reports.
Lead the change management register updating and communications. Take part in change order review and validation.
Work closely with accounting/ finance to update and ensure integrity of data in SAP / Accounting systems.
Assist in preparation of accruals for month end reporting, buy understanding budget and forecasting.
Ensure cost account coding is correct and accurate.
Must have an understanding of CBS (cost breakdown structure)/ WBS (work breakdown structures) that budgets are designed around.
Be familiar with account coding of costs and ensure integrity of cost reports.
