Development Associate-Hyde Park Day School Chicago Campus
Hyde Park Day School is the leading Chicago-area, full-day grade school specializing in the needs of
children of average to superior intelligence who have learning disabilities such as dyslexia and language
impairments. Founded in 2000, the school currently supports students at Chicago, Lemont and
Northfield campuses.
Hyde Park Day School seeks to prepare students for a successful transition to mainstream schools
through a rigorous individualized curriculum focusing on academic and self-advocacy skills in a
collaborative environment. Hyde Park Day School believes that the complex nature of significant
learning disabilities necessitates the delivery of a program that focuses on the remediation of
fundamental skills, the development of strategies to compensate for learning challenges, and the use of
appropriate accommodations. The goal of this highly individualized curriculum, which is driven by a
strong focus on developing self-understanding and awareness, is to enhance self-esteem,
self-confidence, and a positive attitude toward learning. Since its founding, it has enabled over 600
students to successfully transition back to schools in their home community.
Position Summary
Supports a variety of fundraising and marketing/communication programs to achieve greater donor
engagement, participation, and revenue, and increase brand awareness.
Essential Responsibilities Include
Work under the direction of the Development Director to support a dynamic alumni and parent
engagement plan. Supports the planning of events and event logistics. Support strategies to grow the
size and value of the qualified prospect pool. Support volunteer groups through periodic reports,
meetings, fundraising engagement, stewardship, event planning and by attending events. Develops and
maintains relationships with current parents, alumni, donors, volunteers and colleagues. Manage day to
day office details including some data entry and administrative duties.
Coordinates and implements social media strategy. Coordinates the delivery of communications to
various constituencies. Take the lead in updating and maintaining the organization website. Participates
in strategic planning regarding donor prospects including individuals, corporations and foundations.
Contribute to ongoing communications with the Development Director to determine moves
management processes.
Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance. Perform other
duties as assigned.
Skills And Knowledge Requirements
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other databases required.
Knowledge of WordPress highly desirable. Knowledge of Constant Contact and Raiser's Edge a plus.
Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills Required.
Ability to interact with high level donors, alumni, faculty, peers, and administrators required.
Ability to motivate groups of people and individuals required.
Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting required.
An exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative required.
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak and to
write well required.
Personal auto and ability to travel between campuses on a limited basis helpful.
Education/Experience Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher required. A minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit
management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional
Work Experience Required.
