The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring an Electronics Technician Agency-Senior position. This position is located at Volk Field in Camp Douglas.

Position Summary

Working under the general supervision of the Buildings and Grounds supervisor, the Electronic Technician Agency-Senior position will act as a trainer for entry level Electronic Technicians assigned to the Electronics Section. Duties include installation, maintenance and repairs to the alarms and fire detection systems, evaluation, troubleshooting, certification of electrical, electronic components, associated network and devices. Provide assistance, training and/or guidance to Electronics section for the Volk Field utilities dig permit program which includes pipe and cable locating and record keeping, updates to utility maps and as built drawings.

Salary Information

Starting pay is between $28.00 and $33.00/hr. This position is in the 06-63 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.

For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Special Requirements

  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license as a condition of continued employment. You will be trained on specific vehicles and will receive assistance to obtain the licensure if you do not already possess.
  • In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check. In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation and an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information.
  • All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.

Qualifications

Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have experience with:

  • Installing, repairing, maintaining and troubleshooting the base fire detection and alarm systems and related network.
  • Provide training and technical expertise to other personnel as required
  • Operating a personal computer and using Microsoft Office software, to include Outlook, Word, Excel and a variety of software applications. This includes the proficient use of a portable notebook computer using menu driven as well as custom programming features
  • Using all types of electronic testing equipment in relationship to fire alarm systems service, maintenance, installation and equipment related to lighting protection/grounding system testing/certification
  • Submitting requests through Digger's Hot line on-line computer system

In addition to the minimum qualifications, well-qualified candidates will also have the following preferred qualifications/experience:

  • Grounding and lighting protection systems
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
  • Communicating specific fire alarm system requirements and specifications to engineering staff and contractors
  • Utility locating
