Join Northwest Youth Corps as a Woods Boss to provide field support to youth and young adult conservation crews across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. In this role, you will ensure projects meet organizational standards, deliver technical support, and oversee crew activities in outdoor settings. Your responsibilities will also include fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the organization.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Personnel:** Train, supervise, and support field staff and crew members, providing feedback and guidance throughout the season.
**Administrative:** Complete necessary paperwork and manage field staff paperwork, such as petty cash and time sheets.
**Management:** Supervise program participants, offer technical support for project completion, and address dynamic challenges within the crew.
**Field Opportunities:** Work alongside crews on projects weekly, ensure tools and equipment maintenance, lead weekend activities, and support crew resupply.
**Flexibility:** Adapt to long hours, travel to support multiple crews, and engage in physically demanding work environments.
**Qualifications**
**Education:** Preferably a college degree in outdoor recreation, forestry, or related fields.
**Experience:** Previous experience in youth leadership, outdoor projects, or forestry is advantageous.
**Certifications:** Wilderness first aid/CPR certification required; clean driving record and driving license essential.
**Skills:** Strong communication, problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
**Physical Demands**
**Physical Condition:** Capable of strenuous, labor-intensive work, including heavy lifting and long hikes.
**Environment:** Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions and terrains, complying with safety regulations.
**PPE:** Proper personal protective equipment provided and must be used as required.
**Terms of Employment**
This seasonal position will be based in Eugene, OR, Tacoma, WA, or Boise, ID, with substantial travel to remote locations within the assigned region.
