About Pinterest

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and thoughtful team player to join our Policy team as a Lead Product Policy Lead for spam. The spam world is full of dynamic adversaries who change tactics regularly to avoid detection and we need to stay a step ahead of bad actors to keep Pinterest the inspiring place our users love. You will draft policies that define spam on Pinterest, create detailed policy enforcement guidance to help our Operations teams fight spam, and collaborate closely with many cross-functional partners across the company, including Product and Engineering teams, to tackle spam and abuse at scale. This role will sometimes involve reviewing graphic and disturbing content, discussing difficult subjects, and responding to escalations.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead spam policy development for Pinterest.
  • Partner with our Operations, Product and Engineering teams to implement our spam policies and enforce them at scale.
  • Advise your Policy teammates and xfn partner teams on spam and abuse.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, developments in detection methods and tools, and leverage that knowledge to help Pinterest stay ahead of bad actors.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in spam policy development and spam policy enforcement on a global scale.
  • Experience partnering with cross functional teams, such as Operations, Product, Engineering and legal.
  • Knowledge of and experience with spam fighting tools and methods; familiarity with automation and understanding of topics such as anomaly detection and clustering. Ability to read SQL.
  • Excellent judgment and critical thinking skills: you can assess numerous inputs, weigh tradeoffs, manage ambiguity, and make difficult decisions.
  • A stellar communicator who has strong writing skills and great verbal communication.
  • A supportive teammate and skilled relationship builder who can develop and maintain effective partnerships with teammates and cross-functional stakeholders.

Our PinFlex future of work philosophy requires this role to visit a Pinterest office for collaboration approximately 1-2x per quarter. For employees not located within a commutable distance from this in-office touchpoint, Pinterest will cover T&E. Learn more about PinFlex here.
