Today, the Biden Administration announced a program designed to protect undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens who have resided in the U.S. for 10 or more years from deportation, allow those individuals to work legally in the U.S., and remove barriers to U.S. citizenship. Another new policy will allow immigrants, including DACA recipients, who have earned a degree at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education in the United States, and who have received an offer of employment to more quickly receive work visas under certain conditions. The White House estimates that this new process will help about half a million spouses of U.S. citizens and about 50,000 immigrant children whose parent is married to a U.S. citizen, many of whom have been waiting decades for legislative reform. More details will be available in the coming weeks: applications are not yet open, and implementation will take more time.

For many AANHPI women and other women of color, a SCOTUS ruling otherwise would have threatened their bodily autonomy and further barred them from access to safe and effective abortion care. A report by NAPAWF found that AANHPI women in particular were twice as likely to choose medication abortion over other methods. Read the full statement: https://lnkd.in/dG2df4Vc

This June, we join fellow organizations in celebrating #ImmigrantHeritageMonth and the significance of diverse im/migrant communities in our nation. Im/migrants have been the foundation of American economy and culture since the beginning of the country; we are and will continue to be a nation of im/migrants. Today, the Biden Administration announced new policies that would allow the government to rapidly expel asylum-seekers who cross between ports of entry, without individualized review, if border encounters meet a certain threshold. The new policy relies on the Immigration and Nationality Act sections 212(f) and 215(a), laws the Trump Administration used to implement the discriminatory Executive Order 13769, also known as the #MuslimBan
