Contrary to popular narratives, new research from Ecosystem Marketplace finds that companies that engage with the voluntary carbon market: ✅ Outperform their peers in accelerated climate action ✅ Spend around three times more on emissions reductions ✅ Are decarbonizing faster than companies not engaged in carbon markets We hope this research will help to dispel mistrust and encourage more corporates to invest in nature via high integrity carbon markets. To quote Taking Root's CEO Kahlil Baker, PhD, "we need to do everything that we can to reduce carbon emissions and restore nature. It's not an either/or. It's both." 🤔 Remove carbon from the atmosphere? Avoid putting it there in the first place? Both. 🤝 Don’t miss “Assessing removals versus avoidance carbon credits,” a panel featuring Catona’s Chief Carbon Officer Robert Lee — part of S&P Global’s Carbon Management Americas Conference kicking off next week in Denver. The panel will tackle many salient issues through the ‘removals vs. avoidance’ lens — assessing and comparing credit quality, policy support, measurability of impact, and more. 🗓️ If you’ll be in Denver, add it to your calendar: Thursday, June 27th at 12:15pm. And if you’d like to meet with Rob or other members of the Catona team to chat about your organization’s projects and climate ambitions, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to set something up. https://lnkd.in/ghib2GCq 🏔 Hope to see you in Denver! #carbonmarkets #climatesolutions

Last week, Pollination leaders joined the U.S. Department of State for an event on catalyzing an increase in climate outcomes through leveraging high-integrity carbon markets across the energy and land sectors. During the discussion, former Secretary of State John Kerry and other leaders praised the SBTi Trustees’ recent decision to allow the use of high-integrity carbon credits towards corporate Scope 3 targets. Pollination is excited to see a strong show of support for the role of carbon markets in corporate climate action, and we are dedicated to bridging the gap between government, civil society, and private sector players as we continue to push for high-integrity environmental markets. As stated by Pollination Managing Director, Richard Saines, “With appropriate guardrails, we need to maximize the use of carbon markets to drive finance towards real climate outcomes. We must employ every tool at our disposal to respond to the climate crisis.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eXJmE32K

As #ClimateWeekNewYork kicks off, our Executive Director Mary Grady issues a call to action for much more urgent action. In the wake of the recent first #globalstocktake, it is clear that we need to act now with significantly greater urgency and ambition. "This requires a “both / and” mindset for the work in front of us today. We need both integrity and urgency. We need to aggressively phase out hard-to-abate emissions on a trajectory aligned with Paris Agreement targets alongside incentivizing investment in high-quality carbon credits to compensate for residual emissions. We need nature-based solutions and technological innovation. We need emission reductions and removals. We need to create confidence in the best possible projects today and continually improve methodologies." Read Mary's full statement here: https://lnkd.in/gEjYqPC5
