Laid off Googlers, Amazonians are not average skilled.
Upskill is not the solution to avoid layoffs.
Unfortunately the affected ones and future affectors are stuck in less to zero value generation teams.
It's the poor forecast problem by the companies and nothing to do with the skills.
Go and start a business, become your own boss, no one can lay off you - This isn't so practical and doable, may be not everyone would like to start the business.
What is the ideal solution then ?
1. Keep giving atleast 2 interviews per month even when you are in an active job.
This would keep you closer to the market
2. Stay active in LinkedIn - Show your capabilities
Build relationship with the decision makers commenting on your posts.
This is where you bypass the job applications and get to meet the decision makers directly.
Don't repeat the common mistake of getting active ONLY during job search period.
3. Save 20% (atleast) --> SIP in the low cost index funds
This would compound your financial strength
prepare for the worst, leave the rest.
Entrepreneurship is definitely demanding, risky and highly rewarding - go for it, if you are that type.

3moLooks good :D maybe Kagi could be interesting instead of DDG though 👀 https://kagi.com/search?q=brendan+luchen&r=us&sh=bxP-z7Kbx-bqPil6HPLStg Unfortunately with the token it probably won't fit on one line in the same way. It does yield some extra interesting results though!
