To achieve sales success and the revenue growth that comes with it, maintaining a motivated and efficient team is crucial. Yet, the sales industry still struggles with one of the highest turnover rates, especially compared to other industries. A solution that's often overlooked is to reassess how tasks are distributed throughout the sales process. While it's vital for sales staff to contribute to pipeline development, overwhelming them with tasks beyond their expertise can result in burnout and diminished output. In this article, we take a closer look at this and other strategies that can help you make the most of your sales team without pushing them to their limit. https://lnkd.in/dVmgAT7s #salesdevelopment #SDR #outsourcing #businessdevelopment

If you have selected or are considering outsourcing your SDR team, the right questions can shed light on potential partners that fit your sales goals and help ensure you choose a partner who can propel your sales efforts forward. We now reveal the questions to ask from potential vendors and partners! 1. Vendor’s Background and Experience Understanding whether the company specialises in certain industries or verticals can indicate its level of expertise and potential for a deeper understanding of your specific challenges. Understanding how long the company has been in operation provides a glimpse into its industry experience and stability, while the background of the founders can offer clues about the company’s strategic direction and core values. 2. Operational and Strategic Approach It is crucial to know how they ensure their SDRs are knowledgeable about your products, services, and industry. Usually, an SDR is an entry-level role, so they need training and support to participate effectively in complex sales. Understanding how the partner handles underperformance in their team is relevant to whether they have a talent pool available if replacements are needed. 3. There are differences between the services provided The approach of potential SDR outsourcing partners can vary widely, from those who are action-oriented and can quickly start calling your prospects to those who take a more strategic stance, potentially becoming invaluable partners in your sales strategy. For example, these more strategic partners could have a multithreaded and multichannel approach in prospecting. 4. References and Proof of Concept Seek references from companies in similar markets or with comparable challenges to gauge the vendor's adaptability and effectiveness. By covering these critical areas with potential vendors—and considering financial and contractual aspects—you'll be better positioned to identify the right partner. CEO @ Aligned | Helping revenue teams manage deal complexity | Follow to learn how focusing on your buyers is the top 1% formula
As a Sales Leader, my teams closed hundreds of 6 and 7-figure SaaS deals. Here are the 5 hardest lessons I learned about complex software sales: 1. The best AEs don't close deals, they rally a team to do it with them - There are no lone wolves who kill it at 6 and 7-figure deals - They are multi-threading internally as much as externally - Like a conductor in an orchestra creating the perfect harmony - They know the VP Product will talk about the product better - The Founder/CEO will talk about the vision better - And Execs will get buyer exec involvement and buy-in better - High-stakes deals require the best that *your company* can offer 2. Complex sales is more Project Management than Closing - The best AEs are obsessed with structure and process - They know no deal is the same; they tailor every move - They strategize internally to build the best possible plan - They collaborate with champions to create that plan - They see their value as 'Buying Process as a Service' 3. Email and attachments are the worst form of project management - Pain and solutions summary in Email # 1 - Success criteria, requirements, and pilot scope in Email # 14 - Pain and solutions are updated in a deck attached to Email # 20 - New stakeholders join the process after Email # 22 - 'Hidden stakeholders' miss Email # 14 - The result is chaos, long cycles, and internal selling failure - Great reps minimize noise using single Docs/Decks/Collab tools 4. The biggest 'performance hack' is studying buying, NOT selling - My biggest sales breakthrough came from buying software - The second biggest came from interviewing a CFO - These are shortcuts since sales is not about selling anymore - It is about being an advisor, a guide who facilitates buying - Every boot camp should start here vs CRM or product training 5. 80% of success is psychology, 20% is talent & skills - Your psychology dictates how your entire life works out - How fast do you recover from a NO or a bad quarter? - Do you want to succeed as badly as you want to breathe? - Do you bring high energy and focus to each action you take? - The formula is: (Product Knowledge + Skills) x Mindset - Work on yourself more than skills; It's the one true force multiplier TAKEAWAY: Stop trying to "close" your way to 6 and 7-figure deals. What worked in SMB, won't work for complex sales. You can't sell your way to success. You have to design a top 1% Buying Experience. Become obsessed with process. Streamline communication. Get your mindset right. And above all else… Rally your company around you. Complex deals aren't won alone.
