A wonderful read on some workplace trends that are being driven by my own generation. It's crucial that business leaders recognize and address the needs and wants of the generation that will make up a quarter of the workforce by 2025. If done correctly, a mutually beneficial relationship is borne that provides the employer with higher retention rates, a positive work culture, and increased productivity.

Great to see my OneDigital colleague, Jenni Bedell, in USA TODAY discussing Gen Z’s impact on the workforce. When so much of what we see and hear about #GenZ trends negative (Gallup and others have gone so far as to call it “generation disconnected”) it’s crucial for business leaders to look behind the curtain at WHY Gen Z is looking at work differently. - the cost of living is going up - the return on investment in 4-year degrees is going down; - we are in turbulent political and economic times; - and adding to it all, inflation is growing faster than income for most workers. No wonder workplace engagement is at its lowest point in over a decade (Gallup again). So, what are we doing as business leaders to encourage and engage young workers? 1. As workforce expectations change, employers generating financial security for their employees will have the most engaged, productive teams. To this end, we are seamlessly integrating financial services into employee benefits. 2. Additionally, we must prioritize tech innovation and solutions that allow access to financial wellbeing for every income bracket, through multiple forms of delivery. There is nothing unique about Gen Z that makes them more likely to feel disconnected from work. In their position, this challenging environment would have anyone feeling the same. Ultimately, OneDigital's charter is to get employers on the same page as their employees and provide access to the tools both parties need to be successful. #FutureOfWork, and as Travis Dommert would say, #BestWorkBestLife
