This is a big win for Hoodie and our entire industry. The cannabis market is maturing rapidly, making solid strategic planning essential. Flying blind to consumer trends, competitive landscapes, pricing compression, and mergers/acquisitions leads to hyper-reactive operations, increasing chaos. Relationship-based operations don't stand the test of time when employee churn is rampant. Hoodie is incorporating proven data methodologies from big CPG, giving industry players the ability to make proactive, impactful decisions daily. Anyone can scrub a menu or link an API to a POS system, but when the data is as messy and disorganized as it is in cannabis, true data science is paramount for converting data into actionable insights that drive results. This is a PSA for brands and retailers: don't get caught up in buzzwords. Data is difficult, messy, and complicated, and can be misleading. Hoodie has spent years cataloging and mapping our industry's data while creating a customer experience that is both highly insightful yet very simple. Adoption is faster and returns are greater. This investment round is a testament to the incredible work the Hoodie team is doing to improve our industry and I'm so excited to see what comes next!

This week I had the opportunity to attend the Cannabis Innovation Lab, hosted by 1871 and Grown In Innovation Lab. West Monroe's Jeff Cox served as a panelist discussing, “Corporate Challenge: Getting Buy-In from Leadership” among this year's cohort of cannabis entrepreneurs. Here are my main takeaways from this fantastic discussion: 1. The $30 billion US cannabis industry continues to evolve, provides over 425,000 jobs and contributes nearly $3 billion in tax revenue in 2023. The long-awaited SAFER Banking regulations and Rescheduling efforts in Washington remain close.   2. With average retail pricing having dropped 32% since 2021, cash from operations remains "king" for cannabis operators facing limited and expensive cost of capital. Prioritizing profitable revenue and operational excellence is crucial to survive as the industry anticipates closures and increased consolidation in 2024.   3. Cannabis data is invaluable but messy. Whether a retailer, grower or vertically integrated MSO, access to quality data and leveraging that data to make informed supply and demand business decisions in this dynamic pricing landscape will separate winners from losers.
