I'm often asked about the perfect time and method to transition out of the crib, and trust me, it's a unique discussion for each family! But, I'm here to spill some tips and give you insights into what has worked for my toddler. ⬇️
1️⃣ Safety First: Create a sleep space that's safe and secure for your little explorer. Try a toddler bed, a mattress on the floor, or a child-sized bed—add safety rails if needed.
2️⃣ Baby-Proofing: Make sure the room is baby-proofed to prevent any unwanted escapades or injuries.
3️⃣ Familiarity: Introduce your child to their new sleep haven during the day, giving them the chance to get cozy, play, and explore.
4️⃣ Safety Skills 101: Teach your little one injury prevention skills, like safely getting down from the bed without any acrobatics.
5️⃣ Patience, Patience, Patience: Remember, change takes time. Your child may have some adjustment challenges. Stay calm, offer reassurance, and gently guide them as needed.
When my little adventurer hit the 15-month mark, we transitioned to the mattress-on-the-floor lifestyle with open arms (and a firm "adios" to more crib shopping) in preparation for baby #2. The mattress-on-the-floor also aligns with our Montessori-inspired parenting journey of fostering independence. 👶
And remember, every family's transition is a unique adventure, so find what works for you and rock that! 🤘
