This is not a render. This is the X-59, a single-seat X-plane aiming to reduce the sound of the sonic boom to a mere thump. It opens the possibility for commercial supersonic flights over land, which has been prohibited since 1973. Be on the lookout for first flight!

I find the science behind this absolutely fascinating! "by tailoring the volume and lift distribution" it's inspiring thinking, to redistribute the the pressure, in a way that pushes the noise from the sonic boom upwards. Excited to see how this translates into commercial flight in the future!

Is the Boom Supersonic plane, Overture, already linked with design features of the X-59? Is Boom working with Lockheed Martin?

I’d love to see the cockpit design and how the lack of field of view is being overcome. Is there a camera feed; or synthetic vision / AR system?
