Finally it's here the X-59 Unarmed, Quiet and Fast. Its existence came in post 1973 when the FAA banned the supersonic flights over the land due to the supersonic boom. The ban still exists and the study is still going on. Its primary aim is to study the feasibility of supersonic flights over land without causing the supersonic boom to people, realizing the supersonic transport in the upcoming era.

Remember the roar of the Concorde, the envy of the skies in its supersonic heyday? Fast forward to today, the era of the iconic jumbo jet (RIP 747) fading, and point-to-point travel gaining momentum. Could history be repeating, but with a quieter twist? Enter the X-59, NASA and Lockheed's experimental aircraft aiming to overcome the sonic boom hurdle and pave the way for a new generation of supersonic airliners. In-Flight Reverser Deployment Leads to Airborne Breakup; at 23:17, the No. 1 engine reverser deployed while the plane was over mountainous jungle terrain in the border area between the Suphan Buri and Uthai Thani provinces in Thailand. Thurner's last recorded words were, "Oh, reverser's deployed." Moments later, the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) recorded a shuddering sound, followed closely by a snap. Because of the reverser design, the lift on the aircraft's left-wing leading edge became disrupted because of the aerodynamic plume formed, during the engine's rundown to idle thrust and resulted in a 25% loss of lift and an aerodynamic stall. What is a contrail? Have you ever seen an aeroplane flying through the sky on a sunny day leaving a long, thin line of cloud in its wake? 👀 That line of cloud is called a #condensationtrail, more commonly referred to as a ‘#contrail’.    Aircraft contrails form when water vapour and small particles emitted by a jet engine mix into the surrounding atmosphere and produce a trail of cloud made of tiny ice crystals.    The reason we don’t see contrails in the sky every day is because they require a unique combination of pressure and temperature to develop at the flight level. While a single contrail doesn’t cover much of the sky, they can linger and spread out to form broader layers of cirrus cloud over time, when conditions are just right.
