We officially launched Southbound last week Here are 5 lessons I've learned so far: Lesson 1: The team will rally around a big goal - when the vision is there. → Southbound is a first for RevPartners. We’ve never produced an event like this before. Building internal buy-in for our vision (creating THE revenue summit for the southeast) was key. Lesson 2: Build it and they will come. → When you believe in what you’re building, it gives others permission to believe as well. Because we’ve been intentional with our theme, speakers, sponsors, and entertainment, we’re way ahead on registration goals. Lesson 3: Nurturing relationships is everything. → The most common Southbound call out so far? Our all-star speaker lineup. Relationship building has always been important, but it’s crucial to have invested in community years before you launch any event. Thankfully, ours has stepped to the plate.  Lesson 4: Surprise and delight is intentionally planned. → Southbound has got to be memorable and different. That means we threw out the old playbook on what a revenue summit should look like. GTM knowledge meets southern style entertainment…we’ve packed the day with surprising moments, because growth is anything but boring. Lesson 5: The southeast needs Southbound. → Atlanta is my home. It’s where I grew up and where I’m raising my family. Southbound celebrates the GTM talent of the southeast and the businesses that flourish here. And as a community, it’s something we really need. We’re still learning every day and #failingforward in classic RP fashion. And it wouldn’t be possible without a team culture that celebrates moving fast, breaking things, and going BIG. Time for a gratitude post 🙏 Huge shout out to my incredible marketing team, GTM teammates, our customers and partners … It’s been a week since we hosted our first ever Totango  Live! innovation and partnership event. (Sidebar: Whether events are in-person or virtual, 2 days or 2 hours, the need for post-event recovery is real after all the work and hustle that goes into making it happen!) In the spirit of event season, I share this, especially for my fellow CMOs and other CS leaders who are leading LEAN, but STRONG teams. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you take on that next event or big challenge: 🥇 Make it good, not perfect! - There will always be 1000x more ways to improve an event or a big campaign, but be ruthless on what’s good; getting to good is a great place to start. ⚡ Don’t be afraid to be quick! - We planned the event faster than we probably would have wanted, but, time forced us to make quick decisions, which kept up the momentum and energy. 🌶️ Make it spicy! - Find ways to keep the ideation and planning fun; for us, one way was incorporating a Hot Takes! panel into the event content. 🔥 And here's a hot take: Scrappy FTW! - We’re no longer in a growth at all costs world, so virtual events are one way you can keep costs down. And take it from our hot takes panelist Peter: "You need to be best friends with ... the CFO." Low-cost virtual events will help get you there. 🤝 I couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out—strong turnout from our customers and prospects; ample insights and engagement from our guest speakers from Madhavi Bezwada, MPH , Allie Irvin, Kristen Hayer, Peter Armaly, and Erika Jolly Brookes (and our own.CS leader Chris Dishman for hosting the final session and closing credits); and lots of positive momentum and feels from within our team. 💚 Trust me when I say, there’s something special about a strong and mighty team, coupled with a clear goal, and some extra support to take a risk. #customersuccess #marketing #leadership #teamwork #CSOutcomes

Something no one talks about:  Your Q3 team offsite can drive results now!  Here’s how to nail it 👇 We tend to think about events and offsites as islands on the calendar. A week of strategy and fun that drive results after - but not before. If this is you, I hate to break it to you but You’re missing out An event and offsite can be a powerful way to influence behavior before it takes place. For example, let’s say you want to break into a new market this year. To nail it, you need your team to learn new things, like How the market works How the customer segment there is different  How your offer is positioned there You planned ahead and created a course to help people learn but: No one is taking it Here’s where your company onsite comes in. Add a competitive format to the event that requires knowledge from the course. This could be A Tournament A Pub Quiz  A Relay Tack a nice prize to it and announce it next month.  Play it up over the next months on your internal communications channels.  Always link to the course you want people to take.  And watch participation rates climb! Why does this work? We’re social creatures - we want to do well in front of peers.  And most people who chose to work at scaling tech companies are also a bit competitive.  Plus, most of us can be motivated by an external incentive! 🧢 Head Down…. Hats On…. Let’s Go 🧢 It’s been awhile since I shared any updates on the latest and greatest with Small Batch Hats… so here you go. Business has really taken off as more and more groups are looking for unique on-site activations. We are outpacing 2023 by 35% as inquiries for large scale programs continue to come in… it’s an amazing situation. Primarily we have been heads down in the Phoenix/Scottsdale market but this week we got asked by Kat Leong and the incredible folks at Etherio to make our way out #STL and put hats on 1,200+ attendees. The feedback was strong, the vibe was intense, and the smiles on these attendee’s faces was priceless. I’m happy to say we are taking a quick break for the summer (June/July) as we start to get ready for the big push starting in mid-August through early December.
