Fiduciary duty should not be confused with taking care of your employees - "Iwata deeply understood something that has been true for thousands of years: When you take care of your people, they take care of you." https://lnkd.in/gS2JpZhj
Japanese work culture is too intense for me, but there's something the rest of the world can learn from them: Executives actually caring about their employees In 2012, Nintendo was in crisis. Due to the struggling Wii U, their stock was at an all-time low and they had operated at a loss for the first time ever. Despite this, then Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata (may he rest in peace) refused to lay off workers, knowing that it would tank employee morale. Instead, he took a massive pay cut and convinced other Nintendo executives to do the same. His goal was to buy more time for his employees to innovate. And innovate they did, bringing Iwata's latest vision of the Nintendo Switch to life. It was a huge success, adding $50 billion market cap and taking Nintendo stock to all-time highs. Iwata deeply understood something that has been true for thousands of years: When you take care of your people, they take care of you. Contrast this to America where Big Tech CEOs run immensely profitable companies but are happy to lay off thousands of workers at the slightest sign of trouble. If you want to survive in the American software industry, you must learn how to become a layoff-proof engineer. Do that with this in-depth guide from industry experts here: https://lnkd.in/g9UqvaAX

With my co-founder, Vinay Wagh, I am super excited to launch BREVIAN. We are off to take on the challenge of building agents on disparate data (structured, semi-structured, and unstructured) sources with a robust RAG, and make verifiability of answers produced by the agents seamless for the humans in the loop. I am grateful to Sridhar Ramaswamy, Dheeraj Pandey, Jure Leskovec, Deepak Agarwal, Eric Baldeschwieler, and many other colleagues and friends for their inspiration and support. #aiforenterprise https://lnkd.in/gjsSASZ7
Today is a really exciting day as BREVIAN comes out of stealth. We have raised a $9m seed round led by Felicis Ventures Over the last 9 months we have had numerous customer conversations with different personas in the enterprise from data teams, support, security engineering, IT to trust & safety. For many, it started with fear of widespread use (‘prevent my data from going into ChatGPT’) and moved to experimentation (‘let's build a chatbot to see what it can do’) resulting in impressive demos across the board. The path to production is where it got challenging - compiling a stack with LLMs, guardrails, prompt management, vector databases, monitoring, evaluations, connectors, ingestion, UI, hallucinations and more. What we noticed was that for every group of engineers that could pull open source software and mix and match components required to build an LLM application, there is a large number of business users in different functions who don’t have the resources to do it but can benefit significantly from the use of AI that’s integrated with their applications and data and I don’t mean Q&A with documents or searching wikis. Think of teams that handle incidents and have to collect data across various systems in order to analyze and then write an RCA report, or security analysts that spend time dealing with numerous alerts only to find out they are benign, another example is field teams that have to fill out lengthy security questionnaires for every new customer engagement. These examples represent a fraction of the overall opportunity in the enterprise that can now be addressed with the inflection point presented by LLMs. The common thread across all these is that they typically require integrating with multiple data sources, building an ‘understanding’ of the data in those sources and then breaking down a complex task into multiple iterative steps in order to automate. Wouldn’t it be great if these business users could build AI agents that answered their queries and automated tasks by integrating seamlessly with their data and applications without having to write code? Wouldn’t it be even better if this was done with strong security, governance, safety controls built in instead of bolted on? BREV/ΛN has set out to do just that. Our no code platform enables business users to build custom, secure AI agents that can answer complex queries and automate tasks. These agents provide reasoning and references for their answers and improve with feedback in order to gradually build trust. We are starting with a small number of agents in support, security so we can go deeper before expanding out to more. We are excited to partner with Felicis on this journey. I want to thank Ali Ghodsi, David Meyer, Tom Gillis who have been strong influences in my journey leading up to this and our design partners and customers for trusting us. Follow us on BREVIAN as we post more details on our product and technology. Let’s go ! https://tcrn.ch/4a6SBqh
