There's less than month for Districts 1-7 to file their garage inspection before the deadline of December 31st. per NYC DOB Local Law 126. Cleveland has issued a new requirement, requiring parking garage owners to have their structures inspected by a qualified inspector every five years. As of February 2024, all new and existing parking structures must abide by inspection laws to ensure public safety. New year, new Sub-cycle has begun! Local Law 126 Sub-Cycle 1B began its filing period from January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2025 in the Community Districts Manhattan 8 through 12; and all of Brooklyn. (see below in map) REMINDER! What is Local Law 126? It mandates that parking structure owners arrange inspections every 6 years and promptly report the findings to the Department of Buildings (DOB). The primary goal is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. These inspections commenced on January 1, 2022. However, it's important to note that not just anyone can conduct these inspections. Only a Qualified Parking Structures Inspector (QPSI) is authorized to perform them and file the necessary reports. Failure to comply with these requirements, including late or non-filing, carries significant penalties. To avoid any issues, it's advisable to address this matter promptly and adhere to the designated timelines.
