We are excited to announce the 71 Every Voice, Every Vote coalition members receiving $2.875 million to expand access to civic news and information in 2024 and 2025. These 71 Philadelphia media organizations and community groups are launching journalism and civic engagement projects that connect residents to local government, amplify voices from Philadelphia communities, and track the progress of the city’s new administration. They will be joined in these efforts by dozens more coalition members, including local social media creators and additional media and community organizations. This phase of the coalition's work builds on our success leading up to the 2023 municipal elections. In 2024 and 2025, the coalition is focused on the day-to-day activities that strengthen communities and democracy. To do this, we are committed to the following calls to action: -Be heard: Let public officials and fellow community members know our priorities — at the polls and in our neighborhoods.   -Be engaged: Participate in town halls and civic engagement events to dive deep into the issues that matter most.   -Be accountable: Transcend apathy and ensure public officials and communities are doing their part.   -Take action: Make change in small and big ways: sign petitions, show up to public meetings, unite our neighborhoods around important issues. Lead support for Every Voice, Every Vote in 2024 and 2025 is provided by the William Penn Foundation with additional funding from Lenfest Institute for Journalism, Comcast NBC Universal, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Henry L. Kimelman Family Foundation, Judy and Peter Leone, Arctos Foundation, Wyncote Foundation, 25th Century Foundation, and Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation. https://lnkd.in/gZKPgmff

BREAKING NEWS! More than 70 Philadelphia media organizations and community groups, including PACDC, are partnering with the Every Voice, Every Vote coalition to launch journalism and civic engagement projects that connect residents to local government and track the progress of the city’s new administration! The 71 media and community organizations have been awarded a total of $2.875 million by The Lenfest Institute for Journalism, which manages Every Voice, Every Vote. Philadelphians are eager for positive change, and the funding will enable partners to focus on public safety, affordable housing, sanitation, education, economic opportunities, and other issues that matter to their communities. At PACDC, we are thrilled to be involved! Grant funding ranges from $10,000 to $130,000 to support community-centered projects that will run from July 2024 through December 2025 and prioritize solutions-focused accountability reporting, civic engagement, and more through four distinct calls to action: • Be heard: Let public officials and fellow community members know our priorities — at the polls and in our neighborhoods. • Be engaged: Participate in town halls and civic engagement events to dive deep into the issues that matter most. • Be accountable: Transcend apathy and ensure public officials and communities are doing their part. • Take action: Make change in small and big ways: sign petitions, show up to public meetings, unite our neighborhoods around important issues. In the lead up to the 2023 mayoral elections, The Lenfest Institute's Every Voice, Every Vote initiative sought to help Philadelphians harness their civic power, hold government officials accountable, and build a future that works for everyone in the city. The initial vision for the coalition always extended beyond the 2023 municipal election campaigns, and as we prepare for the next phase in June, we're today sharing findings from the 2023 Every Voice, Every Vote Impact Report — findings which are actively informing the continuation of the project. From December 2022 through November 2023, Every Voice, Every Vote: • Brought together 130 Philly-based media outlets, community nonprofits, and social media creators; • Launched more than 365 civic news and information projects to energize voters and bring candidates and communities into conversation with each other about the future of the city; • Reached communities in 16 languages in person and through various forms of print, broadcast, digital, and social media coverage; • Hosted more than 100 events and listening sessions; • And produced nearly 600 pieces of content which included candidate interviews, voters guides, debate recordings, and election coverage.
