Biography

  • Jeremih (born 17 June 1987) – aka Jeremih Felton – is an R&B singer-songwriter as well as a music producer hailing from Chicago, Illinois, US.

Jeremih has been experimenting with music since the early age of three. As a child he taught himself how to play various instruments and participated in marching band and a Latin jazz band while in high school. He continued his musical ambitions while attending college and collaborated with producer Mick Schultz to create the song “My Ride”. As Jeremih was starting to gain more prominence with his music he was soon able to audition for the A&R department at Def Jam Recordings, who immediately signed him to the label after the audition.

His debut self-titled album was released in 2009 and gained him both critical and commercial acclaim. The album was quick to gain a following and reached the No. 6 slot on the Billboard 200 charts. The album featured hit singles such as “Birthday Sex” and “Imma Star (Everywhere We Are)”, which are constant staples in Jeremih’s setlists. “Birthday Sex” reached the No. 4 slot in the Billboard Hot 100 charts and has been certified platinum. The single contained smooth bass lines and Jeremih’s soft, silky voice that gained him comparison to one of his major influences, R. Kelly.

Jeremih’s second album “All About You” showed him continuing with his soulful take on music as well as collaborating with notable artists such as Ludacris and 50 Cent. His song “Down on Me”, which featured 50 Cent contained a more energetic hip hop vibe and included a music video that was innovatively presented in 3D.

Jeremih has collaborated with a diverse group of artists during his career including Busta Rhymes, French Montana, T.I., Wale, and Rick Ross. Jeremih has also performed with the R&B legend Lionel Richie on the song “Just Go” for the ABC show “One Life to Live”. Jeremih’s tour schedule is often very hectic and he is likely to pack out the venue wherever he tours. Whenever he tours he is likely to be sharing the bill with other notable performers. In the past he has toured with the likes of Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, and Soulja Boy. His music continues to grow deeper and richer in sound with each release and his soulful music will always seem to find itself at the top of the charts.

Live reviews

  • Jeremih

Jeremih is one of the hottest, smoothest R&B crooners in the music scene right now. Ever since his debut single, the infamous ‘Birthday Sex’, smashed its way to number four on the US singles charts back in 2009, Jeremih has made quite a name for himself in the industry and remains a popular artist with some great, much loved dance floor classics. Jeremih has a few tunes that are dance floor musts, and much of his music is incredibly catchy and fun. This all adds up to create the perfect atmosphere for a live show. When Jeremih steps on to stage, it’ an automatic party. He is an incredibly smooth performer, talking to the audience and flirting with the ladies. He often takes to the stage solo, playing his own instruments. For ‘Love Don’t Change’, he sat in front of his keyboard and crooned to the crowd, causing mass swaying. When he performed ‘Birthday Sex’ in the middle of his set, the whole crowd went wild and started jumping up and down at the request of Jeremih. Jeremih ended the show with his biggest hit ‘Don’t Tell Em’ which was a spectacular, high energy end to a great show. However, it was the surprise arrival of guest Natalie La Rose in the middle of the show, to perform new hit single ‘Somebody’ with Jeremih, that was by far the highlight of the evening.

  • I went to Jeremih concert yesterday at VEGA in Copenhagen. It was an AMAZING concert/show. The show started by, that the dj turned up the crowd, and then Jeremih came out and started singing "Down on Me" ft 50 Cent, it was so awesome.

His whole crew were turned up and the crowd were turned up too. Lucky for me and my best friends we stood completely in the front, and had a lot of fun.

Every song he sang was amazing in their own way. - Now to the song we all wanted to hear, "Birthday Sex" - he started by asking, if it was any of us' birthday, and of course ALL the girls started screaming to get his attention so he could pick one of us.

But anyway, he picked two girls, but one of the girls got A LOT of attention from him. But she was so shy (it was so cute), she tired to "escape" from him because of her shyness, but he grabbed the girl's arm and KISSED her! Yes, kissed her! All the girls in crowd freaked out, including myself, lol.

The last song he sang was "Don't tell'em" and it was AWESOME, I can't even describe with words how amazing it was when he sang that song. Everybody in the crowd sang and were turned up.

So basically, it was an awesome concert that I've been to in my life. Thank you Jeremih and his crew for an awesome concert.

  • Plenty of smooth R&B singers talk the talk, and find that that’s enough, in itself, to guarantee them chart success, but all credit to Jeremih for actually walking the walk; the fact this his debut single ‘Birthday Sex’ went in at number four on the U.S. charts is impressive enough, but when you consider that it was also sensual enough to inspire a French cover version that went viral in its own right, you’re know you’re dealing with one of the slickest crooners in the game. Having signed to Def Jam back in 2009, he had a smash debut record - self-titled - out within just four months, and whilst that prodigious work ethic faded a little - he’s not released a full-length since 2010 - he’s lining up a return for later this year, with Late Nights: The Album. He typically likes to fly genuinely solo when on stage, often playing keyboards himself whilst singing and relying on just the one beat-dropper; when you’re in the game that Jeremih’s in, audience interaction is key. Having made a well-received return to the live stage last year, he’s now poised to line up further dates in support of Late Nights; it’s high time, too, that he made his long-overdue UK debut, so keep your eyes peeled.

  • I suppose when you receive your big break with a track entitled 'Birthday Sex' which also has an all-French counterpart you may be expected to be a smooth talker. Jeremih is exactly that, the relative newcomer to R & B saw his debut single and self-titled album receive fantastic commercial attention and his fan base grew dramatically.

Now often playing to packed out venues, the charmer has fantastic interaction with his audience and makes every gig more of a show than simply rolling through material. Sincerity is his ace card as when he is playing the sexual material such as 'Birthday Sex' and 'That Body' he annunciates every word with such meaning.

He allows his soulful R & B to take centre stage, dismissing gimmicks and over-production in favour of the music. He clearly enjoys performing as a showman too as he has great interaction with his audience and a cheeky glimmer in his eye throughout the show. A refreshing artist without an ounce of arrogance and a large amount of credibility.

  • I cannot leave a positive review for my experience at the Jeremih concert. I honestly cannot leave a review for his performance at all because I left before he showed up. The doors for this event opened at 7:30 PM for the concert to start at 9:00 PM and it was a quarter to 12:00 AM when I left because he still had not shown up. There was one opening act who came on about a quarter to 10 and was finished in 15 to 20 minutes. I thought the entire flow of the show was very unprofessional due to his tardiness and the lack of communication from his representatives. I was hoping for a nice launch party concert, but after over 3 hours of standing waiting around for Jeremih he has certainly lost my interest.

  • I love Jerimih, loved his show and YG made an impromptu appearance which was a great bonus.I didn't like the fact that he didn't come out until almost 11:00 for a 8:00 concert and that he never even looked yet alone acknowledged the people up in VIP that paid a lot of money to be up close. He said where are all the black girls at. We were all up in VIP screaming and waving trying to get your attention. Could have been the fault of the Venue who should have made the artist aware. However much love to those that came super early and stood on their feet the whole time.

  • Overall, this was a horrible experience. The show was supposed to start at 8:30. At 9:45 we were waiting in a line that wrapped AROUND the block to get into the venue. By the time we got in, Jeremih was already performing and it was packed (definitely a fire hazard). I will NEVER attend this venue again. I couldn't see about 75% of the show and there wasn't even enough room to move around to get drinks. Terminal 5 needs to get it together. By far, the worst concert I've ever been to.
