Our teams in South Africa spent the first two weeks of July engaging in meaningful CSR activities. The BV Trust Makers visited the Ouma Vics Daycare and Pre-school, where they donated goodie bags, shovels and other gardening supplies. Together with the children, our team helped plant a variety of vegetables in the school's garden, including carrots, broad beans, cabbages, spinach, beetroots and radishes. Our colleagues also showcased their culinary skills by making over 200 peanut butter and jam sandwiches, which were donated to the Mahalia Feeding Scheme. This community organization feeds over 120 children twice a week and provides soccer training, making a significant impact on local youth. As a Business to Business to Society company, we are proud to participate in initiatives that allow us to give back to our communities and contribute to Shaping a Better World. These volunteering efforts are an important part of our commitment to making a positive impact. Bureau Veritas' CEO, Hinda Gharbi, recently attended the 24th Economic Meetings in Aix-en-Provence (REAix), where she participated in a dynamic roundtable discussion on the topic "Does international trade still have a pacifying role?" (https://lnkd.in/dXUbmdTr) together with Clarisse Magnin-Mallez, Sahar Albazar, Pierre-André de Chalendar, Jean Jacques Guiony and Pierre Jacquet. During the discussion, Hinda Gharbi emphasized the importance of keeping people at the center of trade and innovation. By highlighting the conditions under which world trade, which creates interdependence, can play a pacifying role, she demonstrated that this is the case when it contributes to the enrichment of populations and the improvement of living standards, within a framework of #responsible progress. We need rules to govern world trade that respect local economies and contribute to increasing levels of security, education and health, and it is in this sense that convergence should accelerate around the need for ethical and ecologically responsible trade. Au cours de la discussion, Hinda Gharbi a souligné l'importance de maintenir l’humain au centre de l’équation commerciale et de l'innovation. En soulignant les conditions dans lesquelles le commerce mondial, qui crée une interdépendance, peut jouer un rôle pacificateur, elle a démontré que tel est le cas lorsqu’il contribue à l’enrichissement des populations et à l’amélioration du niveau de vie, dans un cadre de #progrès responsable. Il faut des règles pour encadrer le commerce mondial qui soient respectueuses des économies locales et contribuent à augmenter le niveau de sécurité, d’éducation ou encore de santé des personnes, et c’est en ce sens que la convergence devrait s’accélérer autour du besoin d’un commerce éthique et écologiquement responsable. By volunteering, BV Trust Makers have the opportunity to make positive contributions to our communities. In France, our teams joined Banques Alimentaires to participate in a national food drive across the Île-de-France region! This initiative was a great success, with participants collecting 800kg of food products to contribute to the cause. Banques Alimentaires is France's leading food aid network. Its mission is to combat food insecurity and food waste. Offering innovative ways to distribute food aid, it supplies more than 850 social grocery stores throughout France and supports them in their operations and equipment supply.
