Today I came across a question that was tagged Sangaku. The description of this tag says "Sangaku are Japanese geometrical problems or theorems on wooden tablets which were placed as offerings at Shinto shrines or Buddhist temples during the Edo period." There are 35 questions tagged by this tag at them moment (2024-06-30). I think it does not make sense to create such tags for each combination of a region, a time period and religion or civilization. That tag does not have any mathematical or application specific meaning. It is not possible to check for such a post if it is correctly tagged as "sangaku". Some information about the creation of the tag and its usefulness can be found here. I propose to remove this tag.

10$\begingroup$ I vote in favor of the tag. These used to be called "Japanese Temple Problems" and they are very beautiful. At their best, they are a great mix of algebra and geometry. I grant that their categorization might not be entirely scientific but, as they say, I know it when I see it. $\endgroup$– luluCommented Jun 30 at 21:12
