Accelerating the sustainable shift to electric vehicles in the UK, EU and North America.
About us
The CEO led, global emobility business forum, accelerating the sustainable shift to electric vehicles in the UK, EU and North America. Alongside the EV SUMMIT UK, 2024 will see the EV SUMMIT launch for the first time in North America, helping propel the emobility transition on both sides of the Atlantic. EV SUMMIT UK | 15-16 July 2024 | Said Business School, University of Oxford Now in its seventh year in the UK, the EV SUMMIT has solidified its position as a leading, high-level, global e-mobility event, renowned for delivering thought leadership and impactful partnerships - notably Europe’s most powerful EV charging hub, in Oxford, UK. Alongside headline partner, Auto Trader UK, the EV SUMMIT will once again bring business leaders and key players working on electric vehicles, energy, information technology and charging infrastructure, to explore how we advance full, battery electric, emobility. EV SUMMIT USA | October 15 2024 | University of Texas, Austin Today, the U.S. emobility transition stands at a pivotal juncture. While EV sales have experienced notable growth, the development of infrastructure is urgently required to sustain momentum. Supported by headline partner EY, the EV SUMMIT USA will spark the same level of collaboration and partnership seen in the UK, driving the American e-mobility sector forward and sustaining its crucial industry growth trajectory.

The EV SUMMIT 2024 wrapped up with some closing remarks from Ade Thomas, “The sense of collaboration has been palpable amongst you all in the room here, in the networking areas, people very positively, very creatively sharing ideas on how we might work together, how solutions might come together, who to work with, just a beautiful sense of a collaborative platform that is the EV SUMMIT.“ We then had our final networking drinks reception (thank you to AFRY and Bain & Company for sponsoring these sessions across the two days) in the pavilion where learnings of the day were discussed and connections were made. We also announced the winners for our two prizes up for grabs this year: A VIP experience at this year's Formula E London E-Prix thanks to Mahindra Racing and an electric Brompton thanks to Brompton Bicycle! Well done Kesh Prabhakar from CBRE and Roman Przybys from DLL for your wins. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“We’ve purchased our first manufacturing facility in Europe in Barcelona, and we should be starting production later this year. We’re looking for other plants in Europe and the UK, providing local jobs. But, we’re avoiding some of the new European tariffs which we’re all seeing more and more of.” peter matkin, Executive Director – Program Management, Vehicle Concepts, CHERY, joined the EV SUMMIT all the way from China and offered an insightful keynote presentation on the latest developments in battery technology from China and how CHERY plan to carefully move this technology over to Europe, particularly in the wake of tariff uncertainties. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“The problem the charging industry has at the moment is actually moving ahead of EV sales. I think there’s going to be a lag, and there’s going to be a degree of tension that comes with that.” - Chris Pateman-Jones Our final panel of the day, sponsored by Vauxhall Motors Ltd, looked at the imbalance between customer expectations and charging infrastructure in the realm of EV manufacturing, adoption, and infrastructure development in the UK. Thank you to our moderator Ade Thomas, Founder of Green.TV Media, our keynote speaker, James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall Motors Ltd, and our panellists: Chris Pateman-Jones, Chairperson from ChargeUK, Jacob Roberts, Senior Policy & Strategy Consultant from Cenex and Kim Royds MBA CMgr, Mobility Director from Centrica. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“We’re seeing more and more companies pull back from the wet fuel companies, who are not providing EV services in the way that they should be, under the expectation that their customership will just go from pumping wet fuel into a vehicle to a dry fuel solution moving to emobility. The reality behind that is that there is a lack of trust.” - Stuart Tolley Our fourth panel of the day, sponsored by Virta Ltd, discussed how critical the deployment of infrastructure is as EV sales gain momentum worldwide, including the need for more government investment, managing energy in a smarter way and the necessity for infrastructure to work for larger fleet vehicles. A very big thank you to our moderator Gill Nowell, Director of Emobility at Green.TV Media, our keynote speaker from Virta Ltd, Stuart Tolley, and the speakers on the panel: Josh Spencer, Head of EV & Sustainability, Ford & Slater, Werner Bornman, Director of Technology, Jersey Electricity and Simon Cowling, Director of Operations & Interim Lead Director for EV, SSE Energy Solutions. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“The cool thing about EVs is that they tick a lot of boxes. They’re fun to drive, they’re attractive, they’re cost effective for an increasing amount of people, they require less maintenance, they are generally the more sustainable choice. So regardless of your drive as an individual, they are a good option generally speaking.” - Andrew Mouat Plug Me In’s panel “Reimagining EV Adoption: Through game-changing investments & accelerated technology deployment” explored the blueprint for revolutionising EV adoption, including increasing brand confidence and government support. They also spoke of the positives EVs offer, such as bi-directional charging, battery storage and the simple message: EVs are fun! Thank you to our moderator Gill Nowell, Director of Emobility at Green.TV Media, our Keynote Speaker, Andrew Stead ⚡️🚙, Commercial Director, Plug Me In, and our panel speakers Andrew Mouat, Head of Smart Mobility, ScottishPower, Arthur Mitchell, Head of Special Projects, Octopus Electric Vehicles, and Caroline M., Head of Network, British Gas Zero. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“Change can only happen if short term and long term benefits outweigh fears and barriers. To move the needle we need to clarify and demonstrate to consumers the economic benefits, and excite people about the future opportunities that electric vehicles can bring to individuals, society, and the environment.“ Oxana Grishina, MBA, Head of Section, Business & Transformation from Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차), our afternoon keynote, talked about the areas for improvement in EV awareness and the collective actions needed to amplify consumer education, engagement and excitement surrounding EVs. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“We have to embrace the Chinese [EV manufacturers]. We have to embrace EVs coming from afar. The way we do it though is through collaboration, and not tariffs or forcing them and putting barriers up… 77% of all batteries are produced in China, so that gives them economy of scale.” Our lunchtime keynote Andrew Pilkington, MBA, Deputy CEO from VINFAST UK, spoke about the EV disruptors in our industry, particularly from the Chinese market, and how they could be the key to make EVs more accessible to more people with their lower price positioning. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“Top Women in EV, from this year, is becoming a year long programme of its own. We’ve always had a week-long campaign as part of International Women’s Day, where we’ve celebrated 70 women across seven days, so far we’ve lifted up 350 women. But, we need more than a moment in time. Throughout the year we’re going to be sharing stories of women to inspire others through ElectricDrives and Top Women in EV’s own channels.” Our very own Global Strategy Director, Lindsay Brown from Green.TV Media, announced that Top Women in EV will now become a year round occasion with more content and events surrounding the topic of empowering women in the industry. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV | #TopWomeninEV
