C2C would like to wish everyone a happy Women in Engineering Day! We are fortunate to have multiple women on our staff doing outstanding engineering work. We spoke with Elisa Yates PE, Donnell King, and Laura Burch to learn more about their journeys into engineering and what advice they would offer women aspiring to be engineers or those who are undecided about whether engineering is the right fit for them. Many factors can inspire a person to enter the engineering field. These three women wholeheartedly agree that the variety of work every day and the self-fulfillment gained from solving problems drew them into the field and kept them coming back day after day. If you enjoy a constant challenge and like to work your brain in different ways, engineering is a great career path with endless opportunities. Most of our staff above saw other engineers close to them in their families work hard and succeed, enabling them to know they could do anything they set their mind to. These women unanimously agreed that everyone’s path into the engineering field is entirely unique and that aspiring engineers shouldn’t compare their journey to others or say it can’t be done. Everyone has unique challenges to conquer, be it finances, motherhood, or otherwise; a different or unconventional route to your goals isn’t bad; it is problem-solving – a key to being a successful engineer! These talented women want the younger generations to know that anything is possible and to keep an open mind because you never know where it can take you. Remember, your journey is unique and empowering. We are proud that these three remarkable women call C2C their workplace. Exposure to various instrumentation technologies, knowledge of control systems, electrical systems including VFDs, wire sizing, creating and editing schematics required. ▪ Professional Engineering License preferred.
