    "Just book more meetings..." It's a phrase that might trigger a dormant reflex in any sales rep or BDR. When pipeline is hard to come by, managers and leadership often start cracking down on outbound and self-sourced opportunities. But what's surprising is how much more complicated, noisy, and overwhelming the outbound playbook has become over the past decade, despite leaps in technology and innovation. Reps are given hundreds of accounts ten different tools ten different playbooks ten different sequences and ten different points of contact at each company and then are told to "just get more touches." What does it lead to? 1. Reps getting burnt out. 2. Reps struggling to understand what actually matters when it comes to self-sourcing opps. 3. Reps suffering from analysis paralysis. So why haven't things changed? 1. Focus on activity-based metrics leads to more noise in the market. 2. Sales tech software is built more for managers than for reps. 3. Playbooks are seller-focused and often disregard the buyer's experience. 4. Businesses don't want to admit that outbound requires a holistic strategy, not just mass emails. So, where do we go from here? We need to simplify the outbound playbook... 1. Focus on delivering value at every touchpoint 2. Eliminate room for error: give reps the right contact points, provide actionable signals, and prioritize the quality of touchpoints over the sheer number of touches.
