We caught up with four artists from the first class of #PHLCulturalTreasures Fellows to learn more about how the award has affected their lives and artistic practices. The fellowships were awarded as part of the regional component of America’s Cultural Treasures, an initiative created by the Ford Foundation and administered in Philadelphia through a collaboration among The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, The Barra Foundation, Neubauer Family Foundation, William Penn Foundation, and Wyncote Foundation. A second group will be announced later this year.

2023 #PewArtsGrants Spotlight: Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia presents "Postmortem: Mütter Museum," a public-facing exploration of the complex questions of consent, ethics, and respect pertaining to the display of human remains. Through the use of an interactive exhibition (currently on view), public discussions, and focus groups, the museum aims to gather feedback to inform its future interpretive and exhibition practices. 2023 Grantee Spotlight: William Way Community Center is producing a documentary by #PewFellow Glenn Holsten to chronicle the life of author and activist Kiyoshi Kuromiya.
