About us
PSI is a network of locally rooted, globally connected organizations working to achieve consumer-powered healthcare — people-centered health systems that ensure quality, affordable care wherever and whenever it is needed. Our origins in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) have grown into a broader mission. Today, we work with the public and private sectors as well as local communities, prioritizing people’s voice and choice and developing solutions to meet their essential health needs. Over the past five decades, we have helped push boundaries, break taboos, set trends, and develop innovative solutions to complex global health challenges.

Korto Togbah, the Wainsue Town Chief leads by example. She has rallied her community to adopt $10 CWSA Quee Toilets. Her leadership inspired more than 22 households, a school, and a church to embrace sanitation, transforming her community's health and environment. In this way, the USAID-CWSA initiative spreads hope across rural Liberia - showing that small steps have a bigger impact. Earlier this month, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) leadership team visited a RISE activity site in Ethiopia. They witnessed the collaborative efforts of Population Services International/Ethiopia (PSI/E) and the Federal Ministry of Health through the Smart Start Initiative, which aims to reduce teenage pregnancy among rural adolescent girls. This initiative not only supports health goals but also fosters business development and financial literacy, equipping adolescents to build a healthy and secure future. Integrating Smart Start in Ethiopia is a government-led initiative supported by PSI Ethiopia and funded by the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In South Africa, the #HIV response has lagged in reaching men. The Coach Mpilo model, designed and implemented by Population Services International and Matchboxology in collaboration with South Africa's National Department of Health, has transformed the role of an #HIV counselor or case manager into that of a coach and mentor who provides empathetic guidance and support based on his own experience of living with HIV. That matters – and here’s why: https://bit.ly/4cTDpOu 🎥 Hear directly from one of our coaches on helping others overcome their fears about HIV testing and treatment. ⬇️⬇️
