This past Saturday, June 22nd, marked the 80th anniversary of the signing of the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act (SRA), more familiarly known as the GI Bill of Rights. This landmark legislation has provided instrumental support to United States service members to assist their transition back into civilian life: * Educational Assistance: The GI Bill covers tuition and fees for college, graduate school, and vocational training. Summer hasn’t officially begun yet, but things are heating up at RAZOR! Team members from across several states arrived at our new office space in Life Time Work in Red Bank, NJ this past Tuesday morning to talk business (and breakfast). We reviewed the company’s performance and huddled up to discuss current projects and exciting new opportunities. Seeing how much RAZOR has grown and that the team’s hard work is paying off had everyone amped up. Ideas were flowing and enthusiastic next steps were planned. But that wasn’t it – by the afternoon, we had all walked over to Life Time Fitness where some of the team went head-to-head in epic pickleball battles, and some opted for a bit of spa time or a quick workout. After talking shop in the new digs and serving up some friendly competition on the courts, the team had worked up quite an appetite and headed to Birravino for dinner. They wrapped up the day with some delicious Italian food including tasty NJ pizza and fresh cannoli, and parted ways reenergized and ready to hit the ground running! Except for Heather, whose car broke down on the way to the team outing and may have to consider literally hitting the ground running in the meantime. As we celebrate Men's Health Month here at RAZOR, we understand how important it is to highlight not just physical health but also the significance of mental health and self-care. Mental health is a vital component of overall well-being, yet it often doesn't receive the attention it deserves, especially among men. Did you know… * Underreporting and Help: Men are less likely to report mental health issues due to societal pressures and stigma, and only 1 in 4 men who suffer from mental health issues seek professional help. * Depression: Approximately 6 million men suffer from depression each year in the U.S., but many go undiagnosed. * Suicide Rates: Men account for nearly 80% of all suicides, emphasizing the need for better mental health support. Here are some ways we can support men's mental health: * Normalize Conversations and Be Supportive: Encourage open, honest discussions about mental health among friends, family, and colleagues. Offer a listening ear and emotional support to the men in your life. * Promote Resources: Share information about mental health resources and support services. * Healthy Lifestyle: Encourage a balanced lifestyle that includes regular exercise, healthy eating, and adequate sleep. * Professional Help: Remind men that it's okay to seek professional help and that it's a sign of strength, not weakness. Remember, taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. Let's use Men's Health Month to break down the barriers and foster a culture of support and understanding as we work to raise awareness for men’s mental health care.
