The rise of AI and remote work offers flexibility but can also lead to increased feelings of loneliness among employees. New studies have shown that these feelings can have severe consequences, including higher rates of alcohol consumption and insomnia, and even increased mortality rates. To combat this, employers need to take proactive steps: 🔹 Boost overall employee engagement to reduce loneliness—engaged employees are 64% less likely to report feeling lonely. 🔹 Encourage personal connections between team members through apps like Donut, mentoring, and onboarding programs. 🔹 Host regular offsite events to foster trust and stronger connections among employees. 🔹 Promote a culture that values social interaction, even in remote settings. Additionally, using AI to enhance worker autonomy and provide meaningful tasks can significantly improve mental health. Implement these strategies to ensure a happier, healthier, and more connected workforce. To learn more about this issue click https://bit.ly/3WfUEE7 #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeWellbeing #HybridWork

Starting July 1, Greece has introduced a six-day workweek for certain sectors to boost productivity. This new rule allows employees in 24/7 service industries and specific manufacturing sectors to work up to 48 hours a week. For the extra hours, employees will receive an additional 40% compensation to reward their increased efforts. The decision has sparked both support and criticism. Supporters say it will meet urgent operational demands, especially where continuous service is crucial. Critics worry about the impact on workers' health and work-life balance. The government stresses that this change is not meant to replace the five-day workweek but to address specific industry needs. Few Key points: 🔹 Six-day workweek introduced in select sectors. 🔹 Applies to round-the-clock service industries and specific manufacturing sectors. 🔹 Employees can work up to 48 hours a week 🔹 Extra 40% compensation for additional hours 🔹 Government emphasizes that this change addresses urgent operational demands 🔹 Legally mandated five-day workweek remains unchanged How do you think this will impact the labor market and overall productivity? Yesterday's shocking assassination attempt on a former U.S. President and current presidential candidate has left us all deeply shaken. Regardless of political beliefs or affiliation, violence of any kind against anyone under any circumstances is unacceptable. This event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of our mission to foster civility, respect, and inclusion in every aspect of our lives, especially in the workplace. SHRM’s efforts are not just about creating better work environments—they are about building a better society for all. I applaud our elected officials on both sides of the aisle showing unity and support as well as vocally calling for civility. I call upon all CEOs, CHROs, and HR Professionals to lead with empathy and employ active listening as the work week starts up again tomorrow. The principles that guide us through challenging times like this are: 1️⃣ Civility for All: Treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or beliefs. 2️⃣ Open Communication: Encouraging open, honest, and constructive dialogue in our workplaces. 3️⃣ Empathy and Understanding: Striving to understand different perspectives and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. Now is the time to model civility in every conversation today and this coming week. If you need support on a specific issue of civility in your workplace, the below resources are available: SHRM Ask An Advisor: https://shrm.co/lg5ew3 Free Civility Resources: https://shrm.co/jg5vp4 #SHRM #CivilityAtWork #HumanResources

How are you to strengthening your own "civility muscle?" This week's guest, Emily M. Dickens, Chief of Staff, Head of Government Affairs, and Corporate Secretary for SHRM, believes the answer lies in practicing #civility —one conversation at a time. Emily shares about SHRM's recently launched Civility Campaign and why leading with a "care for others" approach is far more effective than the all-too-common "self-serving" leadership style.
