Today marks another historical day for USAISEC as CSM Mike Runk passes the baton to CSM Endesha Johnson during a Change of Responsibilities Ceremony hosted by Col. Ericka B. on Friday, December 1st, 2023 in front of Greely Hall, Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Located in Cochise County, in southeast Arizona, about 15 miles north of the border with Mexico, Fort Huachuca is an Army installation with a rich frontier history. Established in 1877, the Fort was annexed in 1971 by the city of Sierra Vista and declared a national landmark in 1976. Fort Huachuca is the largest employer in Cochise County and the largest economic contributor in Arizona. The Fort develops and tests command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) capabilities; delivers intelligence, training and education; designs, develops and integrates intelligence capabilities, concepts and doctrine; and provides world-class quality support services in support of Army and Joint operations. July 23, 1963: The Computer Control Information Systems Group was established under the United States Army Combat Development Command. Its mission was to take a long-range objective look at automatic data processing system hardware from the viewpoint of field commanders and to develop, provide, and integrate automatic data processing on a time-phase basis. October 1, 1996: The Chief of Staff of the Army authorized the consolidation of engineering activities under the U.S. Army Materiel Command. The United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command (USAISEC) then became a major subordinate command of the United States Army Communications-Electronics Command or U.S. Army CECOM. Today, Fort Huachuca is a major military installation in Arizona and one of prominence throughout the Southwest. Throughout its rich history, USAISEC’s focus has been, and remains, to provide world-class communications and logistics support to enable readiness to our warfighters as the C5ISR “Materiel Integrator” for the Army. USAISEC visits with the 93rd Signal BDE leadership, Col. William M. Martin to discuss ongoing Network Engineering Modernization projects. USAISEC continues to provide engineering expertise, and cyber support to Global Enterprise Network Modernization - Americas (GENM-A) under PM IEN PEO C3T on Voice Modernization, Outside Plant infrastructure upgrades, Network Modernization, and Strategic Command Center projects. USAISEC & West Point grad Col. Ericka B. met with Ltc. Dennis Sugrue, Ph.D., P.E. & Maj. Ian Riley from the United States Military Academy at West Point Strategic Resource Planning & Integration Cell to discuss ongoing USAISEC support throughout the entirety of the Academic Building Upgrade Project (ABUP). The ABUP program includes construction of one new academic building, one temporary office building, and renovations of seven existing buildings. Construction on the first building began in 2020 and the last project is projected to end in 2038. USAISEC provides the reviews of the facility designs, estimates for materials, contracts, installation, and testing of network, audio visual and mission unique equipment. The team also synchronizes the technical requirements between USMA CIO/G6, the construction contractor, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the Network Enterprise Center (NEC). Col. Ericka B. met with USAISEC Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia field office under the leadership of Mr. Ron Michon. USAISEC provides direct systems and security engineering matrix support to the PdM GCSS-Army - Mr. Gregg. Barisano, and the Product Lead Logistics Information Systems (PL LIS) - Mr. James Winbush, in support of the Army’s emerging enterprise-based logistics information and management systems and sustainment mission, both aligned under the PM AESIP and Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (U.S. Army PEO EIS). The USAISEC team serves as the primary component of the Systems Engineering (SE) Division for the GCSS-Army project office, responsible for Systems Engineering and Integration, Architecture and Standards Compliance, Security Engineering, Cyber Security/Information Assurance Monitoring and Support, Joint Standards and Compliance, System Performance Testing Support, Configuration Management, Datacenter Design and Operations Management, Disaster Recovery (DR), and Technical Support to the Materiel Fielding Teams (MFTs).
