Sports medicine physician Dr. Katherine Pohlgeers recently hosted an Emergency Sideline Course to prepare residents, athletic trainers and sideline personnel ahead of the upcoming high school football season. Training included topics such as heat-related injury treatment, hands-on Tarp-Assisted Cooling Oscillation demonstrations and more. They also had special guests from The Matthew Mangine Jr. "One Shot" Foundation share their story and train attendees in AED administration and hands-only CPR. Mangine, a high school soccer player from northern Kentucky, sadly lost his life at age 16 from a cardiac event during practice that could have been prevented. Matthew’s parents have dedicated the foundation to honor his legacy, and educate parents, coaches and athletes about the number of preventable sudden deaths.

Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is celebrating 150 years of serving a medically underserved South Louisville community. Founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1874, what started as a 75-bed hospital has grown to a 298-bed facility offering a full range of services. A century and a half later, we're continuing to serve generations of patients. Drs. Arun and Neera Ummat donated $1 million, and the Legacy Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary donated $600,000 to ensure the community will continue to receive compassionate and quality care. 🔗 ULHealth.co/3SaMJFN
