USI President Michael Obergfell, Southern IN Business Development Representative Tara Damin, and designers Peter Carleton and Joshua Frerichs gathered with over 100 community members and leaders to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the Monon South Trail Phase 1, hosted by the Town of Borden. Cory Daly, USI's Project Manager, led efforts for more than 6 miles of trail through the Towns of Mitchell and Orleans. We are grateful to have been part of a very collaborative team including: Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Radius Indiana, Clark Dietz, Inc., Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group, Lochmueller Group, Banning Engineering, SESCO Group, MAC Construction, as well as many cities, towns, counties, and nonprofits. “I cannot believe construction of the Monon Trail is about to begin! What started as our conversation with the Town of Orleans to working alongside Radius and Ryan Hughes on the initial DNR Next Level Trails grant, I am blessed to have been a part of this great team and this important project for southern Indiana,” said Damin. Construction of Phase 1 is on track to be completed in the Spring of 2025. For more updates on the construction timeline and to share in our excitement, we invite you to join the Monon South Trail Community Update Meeting in Mitchell, IN on July 24th!
