Integrity is everything. Does your SEO agency have it? If you're not sure, ask this question: "How many other dispensaries do you work with in our area?" If it's more than 2-3, walk away. A few dispensaries who were located in the same area as our partners approached us for help with SEO. I politely refused and referred them to other agencies. Things that matter to me: - Long-term value over short-term profits - Crushing it for our partners - Meaningful relationships I'm okay with letting go of easy money if it leads to a conflict of interest. That's exactly why we don't onboard more than 2-3 partners per major metro/city area and our upfront with our partners of who we work with. It is also one reason why our LTV is 1.5 years - 3x longer than the industry average of 6 months. And yes, while this makes us more expensive than most agencies, we go to bat for you with the right mix of resources to ensure make sure you win. It's our team's obsession. I've audited 11 CBD and Cannabis sites in the last 30 days. Here are the 5 most critical mistakes I see: 1. Not targeting keywords with category and product pages. 90% of the revenue you'll make from organic search will be from ranking your category and product pages for buying-intent search terms. 2. No reviews on product pages. A huge, huge conversion killer. If you don't show social proof that your product works, how do you expect someone to trust you with their money? 3. No long description or FAQs on category pages. Discussing your product category in-depth and answering common questions isn't required.. until your competitors do it and outrank you. 4. No high-quality blog content/consistent blogging effort. Building topical authority is how you easily rank your category and product pages for lucrative terms. And high-quality content is how you build that topical authority. 5. No internal linking from blog posts. Blogging can help your category and product pages rank better.. but only if you linking the relevant transactional pages in each blog post. - Don't miss out on organic revenue. Paying 2%-3% for PPC management or other e-commerce software? Do the math with me for a few minutes. 3% of $500,000 = 15K or $1,250 a month. What could you do with 1,250 extra month to grow your business? Videos? If your net margin is 10% and you sell 2M a year, your profit will be 200K. 15K out of 200k is 7.5%. You are paying 7.5% of your total profits to software that does not outperform a qualified specialist using the platform. The tool cannot run without a specialist, either. Now, if I told you to improve your profit by 7.5% overnight or you would lose your business, you could not do it without causing a lot of damage to your business. But you can instantly make 7.5% more profit by canceling your useless SaaS subs and working with the right team. Advertising quick fix = out-of-the-box software + undertrained folks. Effective long-term advertising fix = hire the right talent and build reporting.

Approximately 80-90% of the traffic visiting your dispensary website won’t buy from you. At least, not initially. Every DTC brand I have worked with thought they were operating at their maximum potential and bringing in the most revenue they could... UNTIL they met our team We were that extra push they needed to scale past the 7 & 8 fig range. Now, I think it's only fair that I share the 5 lessons I learned to help those DTC brands (This will help you break past the $1m/year mark): Lesson 1 - The Product-Market Fit Paradox When a brand starts its initial climb to a million dollars in sales, they’re very misunderstood. Many people think sophisticated marketing strategies will be the key to their early success, but the reality is much simpler. All you need is a product that deeply connects with the needs and desires of consumers. This connection (known as product-market fit) is the actual way to help a brand's initial growth. I've seen many brands eager to scale up, pouring resources into marketing, but they struggle to reach their desired sales targets. This struggle is a result of a product that doesn’t appeal to a broad audience. Before you do ANYTHING, you need to test that the product you’re trying to sell is the right fit for the market. It needs to fulfill a want or solve a problem that a large number of people care about. Once you have a product that resonates with a wide audience, amplifying your marketing efforts can take you to that million-dollar milestone with ease. But without that fit, even the most innovative marketing won't get the results you're hoping for. Lesson 2 - Financial Awareness and Marketing KPIs Another mistake I see a lot is a weak understanding of the financial side of the business. It's not enough to have a great product or a creative marketing campaign, you need to understand the economics of your operations. This means knowing various financial indicators and marketing KPIs, like the CPA etc. Many brands underestimate the importance of these numbers. But, they are the foundation for sustainable growth. When you know your financial metrics inside and out, you're ready to make decisions that align with your business goals. You can identify what's working and what's not, where you can save money and where you need to invest more. But without this knowledge, you're trying to move in the dark, and that’s what makes directing your brand toward profitability and scalability much harder. Lesson 3 - Investment Mindset for Growth Many brands hesitate to commit funds to marketing efforts or avoid partnering with agencies that specialize in scaling businesses. I feel like this hesitation usually comes from a desire to manage everything internally and a belief that seeking outside help or spending more on marketing may not be necessary. Direct mail to the rescue. Turn your best e-mail campaigns into a direct mail. You can retarget your audience without the post iOS issues. You can even target cold audiences and 'cold mail them'. Everyone is stoked about TikTok ads, but direct mail has been tried and tested for over 100 years.

So you've knocked out all the bottom and mid funnel SEO content relevant to your product... now what? How do you tackle more top of funnel content without just attracting a bunch of tire kickers? What we've found to work well: Tools and templates that your future customer needs now. These work because you can get that visitors email and stay in front of them, so when the time eventually comes that they're in market to buy, you're top of mind. "Owned audience", as the cool kids are calling it now. The key is to think about relevant paths that your future customer takes to eventually get to your product. Let's pretend you make a project management tool for agencies. What are some things the owner of a budding agency would care about, even before they're considering a tool that will help them manage a bunch of deliverables across multiple employees? -An agency proposal template -A new client onboarding questionnaire template -How to write a price increase email for scope creep -Etc. So you cover these topics, ask for an email in exchange for something of value related to that topic (usually in the form of a copy of the template), and continue sending them good stuff (like a good weekly/monthly newsletter, periodic product updates, etc.) until the day comes where they realize their agency operations are a mess and they're finally ready to take a look at how your product can help. That's what the highlights in this screenshot are showing - opportunities created from organic search by top of funnel checklists and templates we created for a client.

You NEED these skills! (if you want to build a successful DTC brand) As a founder you must either: A) learn & master these skills yourself OR B) outsource them to team members/contractors etc. They will get the resources your brand needs for real long term success. 1. Copywriting Likely the most important skill on this list. Communication, as we all know, is key in business. It's important in: • displaying the value in your offer to customers • engaging & motivating your team • retaining attention of your audience Effective copywriting can communicate (and sell) for you, even while you sleep! Leveraging this eliminates the need of your's or anyone else's presence to convert strangers to customers, leaving you no longer limited by your time! 2. Audience Building Having amazing copy on a sales page is useless if no one sees it! Effective audience building skills gathers a group of people who ACTUALLY cares about your brand.
