Europe's values are in the test of Gaza today. All the values of moral and culture are set and defended by Europe are now in test inside and outside of Europe. While mostly innocent children and women are murdered in Gaza most of the European countries are supplying heavy weapons and arms to oppressors Israel. Other side people with conscious and moral values are protesting what's happening in Gaza their rights of speech, demostration are limited even if they are targeted by police. If today is a day of Europe days what you will say your people that they will trust and follow... If today is Europe Day, how painful it is to see that European values are dying these days. Being indifferent to what is happening in Gaza and even being an accomplice of Israel in committing the atrocities there makes today the day when European values are questioned.

I’m celebrating and wishing I was still an EU citizen maybe one day we can rejoin the family 😊

As much as symbols are needed, that I can go for. Still, if EU values include history rewriting & theft - No, thank you! The 9th May is “Victory Day”. The day of victory over the Nazis. Marked by the sacrefice of millions of Russians giving their lives to achieve it. This is a historical fact! The same Russia that is “sidelined” from the same Europe it helped saving in WWII. As for European values - these are under a practical test today. With the ongoing genocide against occupied Palestinians in Gaza, EU still supporting the aggressor, still NOT upholding International Laws & the Geneva Convention & human rights laws & values. Same values held so dear and spoken about, that are supposed to be at the CORE values of the EU! Are we living up to these values? Is the EU even aknowledging these values? What are you celebrating here? History rewritting? Integrity theft? Human rights & International laws disfunctioning? UN impotence?!? Just wondering! 🤔

In Estepona, Málaga , we celebrate Europe's Day by going to the high schools to bring the EU closer to a thousand teenagers and youngsters, + round tables and more. It's amazing to see how little they know and how enthusiastic they are once they learn about it! With @ Benedicta Miguelez and City Council of Estepona. I wish all of us that we take smart decisions for a livable green EU, and that we get bigger, including by Georgia, and Ukraine, with itt whole territory, joining, with all the human potential and courage and determination that is in these (and other) candidate countries.

Where did this day come from? 9 May is Victory Day. The day we remember victory over the Nazis. The day we remember the millions of Russians giving their lives to achieve this. This will never be a “Europe day”.

I'll be celebrating Europe Day in Smith Square this afternoon. . We had 70 years of peace for 37 pence a day as a member of the EU. After Brexit we have a war in Ukraine and possible mission creep.
