While the role is full stack, this particular hire will be building out our public/private APIs and architecting some really cool integration infrastructure we've got in the works. This means you'll likely be stronger on the backend (Node.js), but you may dabble in some React/Typescript frontendy stuff too. U.S. only, but it is remote. We can't do new sponsorships but we do support H1B transfers. Preference to Atlanta so I can train you in person, but not a hard requirement. Comp range is $155k - $200k + an equity package. 5 abilities you need to be a Staff Software Engineer: 1: Understand and calculate business impact. 2: Generate opportunities and build buy in from stakeholders. 3: Design processes which encourage others to lead but not directly lead yourself. 4: Influence projects across realms of ownership involving many teams. 5: Create and understand organisational level success metrics. No one ever became a staff engineer by waiting for opportunities to come to them. You become a Staff Engineer by becoming an extremely competent senior and demonstrating these 5 abilities and more.

Written communication can sometimes lose context, so utilise tools like Loom or voice notes, especially for handovers across different time zones. Clear and concise communication is key! 💓 Manager compassion Managers must recognise the stress of major incidents. Practising compassion, encouraging breaks, and promoting a no-blame culture where engineers can confidently address issues, is essential. 🏎️ Speed vs thoughtfulness Managing incidents requires a balance of quick fixes and holistic thinking for progress, including effective triaging, using SLAs as motivation, and leveraging smart tools for correct incident management. #meetups #lifeatincident #incidentios
