AI/ML/etc/etc -- Good to acknowledge the hype, being honest with ourselves

I missed this article last month, the article below about the launch party for Rocket AI (rocketai.org) and their "Temporally Recurrent Optimal Learning™" and just loved the story. I think the hype hinders progress, as real work and innovation has to fight to rise above the hype and noise. There is such a hunger for the immediate next big thing, that it enabled the Launch of RocketAI, an experiment to measure to hype of AI. Its a recurring theme that I am reminded of everytime I need to differentiate a topic against what is being hyped in the marketplace ( AI, micro services, big data, cloud, etc etc etc )...
