The next big update for Apple is coming with iOS 18, but the raging question at the back of users' minds is: "Would my iPhone be compatible with iOS 18's new AI features?"

This new report now determines the speculated iPhone models that would be able to receive the AI features from Apple via iOS 18, especially as it would be demanding with on-device AI.

Gurman regarded that the devices sure to get the full AI experiences from iOS 18 would be the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max only, one that would feature on-device AI as well. This includes Siri taking over the device and offering massive AI features that will give assistance, insights, and more to users.

However, these devices on the list are the ones that will get limited compatibility and/or access to Apple's AI features coming with iOS 18.

Apple's AI Compatibility for iPad and Mac

On the other hand, Apple would also deliver the AI upgrades to its other devices including the iPad and Mac, but it was reported that it would only be compatible with M1 chips-equipped devices. This means that 2020 MacBooks with M1 and later, as well as iPad Pro 5th Gen with M1 chips, are the only ones compatible.

It was not revealed whether M-series chips-equipped iPad Air would gain access to the AI via iPadOS 18.

iOS 18: The Biggest Update from Apple

One of the biggest rumors behind iOS 18 is Apple's partnership with OpenAI to deliver AI features via its renowned GPT models.

However, Apple also worked on developing its AI features for iOS 18, and it was evident in its previous works, as well as the recent Darwin AI acquisition that was reportedly for this specific technology.

For now, the confirmed AI experiences coming from Apple include a Siri generative AI upgrade, Apple Music's generative playlists, iMessage's new AI feature, Safari, and more.

There is also a speculation that iOS 18 to deliver on-device AI for eligible iPhones, and alongside this, Apple would also bring the AI to the iPadOS and macOS, also for compatible devices.
